Was feeling reasonably good about this game up until MV absolutely thrashed the Wanderers tonight and now I'm feeling less confident...

Wanderers hardly set the world on fire. They were so disjointed it wasn’t funny. But a few of those goals were class. An away draw would be a good result.

If we can come away from next week holding our own against an in-form Honda then it will be a great result.
I assume Marrone will be coming in for Regan/Jakobsen and Strain poviding the full-back option. I am pretty happy with the Kitto/Ilso/Halloran/Goodwin show to continue up front.

If we defend like weve been doing we will cop an absolute belting.
We need to find a clinical nature to our finishing, but they look good. I thought Honda might phone it in down here, but hes on fire.
I have a funny feeling this could be a GF preview.

Hopefully Jakobsen is back.
No offence to Marrone (he's been very solid as usual this season), but we need experience right across the back four if we want to keep out MVs clinical strike force.

Marrone stays in of course .... his crossing into the box has been the pick of all our backs. Regan is obviously out and Strain is a straight swap in for him (thankfully). Jakobsen on the bench for his resilience and calm under pressure (in case we need to swap out a back) and Mileusnic on the bench for his speed, versatility and X-factor. Keep everyone else as per Friday night.
As long as we can resist their first 15 minutes, we'll be fine and could even jag a win. They were terrible for the first 2 - 3 weeks, losing their opening two matches and then wobbled some flukey wins. The Wallys made them look much better than they really are last night; without Barbarouses or Honda they would be pedestrian indeed. So defend like mad for the first 15 and then start pressuring them; if we score first, the stadium goes quiet and that takes the crowd out of the picture.
We can do it and I liked the comment above that this could be a GF preview ...

Victory are looking scary!
They have 4 visa players who have substantial big league experience ( serie a , ligue a, bundesliga and la liga)
Then add james troisi who has (limited) serie a experience himself, kosta barborousis and terry Antonis....
They easily have the strongest 11 in aleague history but lack depth outside the 11.
This game is one we really need boland in, its going to have to be a real team effort if we get something from this.

You’d think Isa would enjoy going toe-to-toe with Honda, he did a great job with Ninkovic so that will be a great battle.

there is a clear top 5 emerging in the league.
I think points earned from top 5 teams are potential double pointers the way the league is shaping up.

Regan's really screwed us over here.
Our already depleted squad is gonna get stretched further with Elsey as our only fit and available CB. Someone in the youth squad is gonna get thrown right into D-Day here.

Strain as a straight swap for Regan? You want to play Elsey and Strain as our centre back pairing against Honda, et al? No offence meant to Strain, but if Jakobson is even 80% match ready he needs to play.

Re: Preview: Melbourne Victory vs Adelaide United 7/12/18
Yes. Any player who is only at 80% is not ready for a full 90 minutes. Strain is capable and has a cool head under pressure - plus he drifts forward and presses well. Jakobsen is classy, no mistake, but he's been out for 2 weeks (maybe 3, with the international break) and we can't afford to have even one player slightly off or a touch rusty in his passing.Strain as a straight swap for Regan? Remember that Isa always drops back to screen the CBs too, so it's not as if Elsey and Strain will be thrown to the wolves.

If Jakobsen isn't fit then Marrone or Isa will play CB IMO.
