I think Kurz is quality and it will be hard to replace him.
I'm wondering how many players we will lose and as The Claw pointed out it could be quite an exodus.

Isaías Sánchez Cortés for player manager!
Now that could be interesting.

I think we were due a clean out anyway, our squad lacks X factor.

I doubt we will lose much due to the Kurz factor though, he wasn't as well liked in the playing group as some might think.

Yeah I dunno. Results were ok with him but I really haven't been enjoying going to watch matches this last couple of seasons. People will say it's recruiting but I'm not so sure of that. We lacked a striker but the team plays the same predictable way week in week out, doesn't counter attack with purpose and creates bugger all chances to score each week.

Saying that, the whole thing has been managed terribly. I want to give the owners (whoever they are) the benefit of the doubt, they have stated some grand plans and maybe they're finding it harder to realise than they expected. Examples, are looking for a CEO and after months of hearing nothing they decided to keep Nathan Kosmina on full time, getting Aurelio as football director and him leaving after not even 1 season. There could be lots of reasons why that's happened but they're on notice as far as I'm concerned.

I'm glad he's gone.

Adealide should either be in or around ACL or producing tomorrows Socceroos. I felt we did both of these under Gombau-Amor and to some extent Kosmina-Vidmar, Kurz has been a backwards step.

We now turm our attentions to the shortlist:

- Unknown Dutch drifter likely CV of something in Asia and Telstar, NAC or some other yoyo dutch club (probably already signed)
- Valkanis
- Mori
- Vidmar x2
- Okon
- Gombau

Obviously a vague tweet from Reegs but it may change some people's opinion that Kurz will be taking players with him.Image

I don't think it's vague at all, in fact it's quite pointed.

Yeah that says plenty in saying not much.

As for new coaches, I think we could do worse than Okon. He had the mariners playing some decent football when compared to the clusterfucks that came before and after

Maybe I should have said intentionally vague lol

You have to ask if he already knew the inevitable was coming and he did all this to paint himself as the ‘good guy’ knowing full well Piet van der Pol would be caught off-guard after just returning from leave.
This rings most true for me. I have an extremely hard time believing that this was not known by all parties behind the scenes for quite a while.

The owners prob thought they could let this season play out and keep quiet and then move on at the end of Kurz’s contract (could reasonably argue that it was delusional to think that could happen, especially in this town).

There’s basically only one journo who really reports on the team in this state (for better or...much worse) who for some reason wants to kiss the ground that Kurz walks on, and I think Kurz has definitely used that to paint himself as the good guy in this situation.

Amor certainly handled his exit way better.

Its interesting watching the pendulum of public perception shift on every tweet, article and presser.

Its worth noting even Gombau had players who were not in support of him.

I think its prudent to remain neutral, i will remember kurz for keeping us competitive despite an ever depleted squad. I will also cut the ownership group some slack to allow them to have “ their people” in place once old contracts expire.

The biggest cringe moment from fans is imo when we pretend to know exactly what goes on behind closed doors even if we know someone inside the club.
