Re: The Next Coach of AUFC
Hey Otto, no-one here is giving it away. We just like a moan when things are shit. Bear in mind that top six is still bottom half of the league - hardly a success. Add that the football we are playing is one-dimensional and dull. Injuries make all coaches look bad but to end up with four misfiring forwards and no centre-backs fit isn't a great look. Kurz is passionate but extremely pragmatic. Barring the 4-3 comeback win over the league's worst team, what we've been dished up at Hindmarsh this year has been pretty drear.

I agree totally. I’ll be one of the 6000 who’ll turn up to next week’s game against Perth. Going to see if we’ve learned anything from the previous home game against them. Which I recall was 80 minutes of huff and puff against an organised defence and two breakaway goals.

Re: The Next Coach of AUFC
Think it’s a bit rich to say any AU fan who is still turning up, buying merch/memberships after the last 3 seasons and especially what has been dished up at home this season. As put, having 0 CBs after having no striker for a large part of the season is not good enough. Lia/Marrone/Isa as CBs is not a team going anywhere other than making up numbers.
Now we have coaches making announcements online when our current coach is talking about negotiations at the same time. Just does not paint a good picture and if that is pissant, then having a pissant attitude to it can’t be wrong

Sorry, I was reacting badly to "The best thing that can happen is that we don't the make finals ..." and "I'm seriously considering not renewing ...".

Re: The Next Coach of AUFC
Kurz’s often repeated mantra is “we want to make the finals”. Why set the bar so low at the start of the season? Why not “we want to get into the ACL next season”? It’s accepting mediocrity.
On current form the Reds may not stay in the top six. Is Kurt inspirational enough to ensure they do?
I’d love United to do what victory managed last season. But only aiming for the top of the tree is going to get us knocked out away from home in the first round. Job done, ambitions achieved. What’s wrong with aiming for the stars?

I feel like Kurz will walk at season's end.
If so, we should target Stajcic.

Can't reach for the stars without stability ...
New coach, new players, long bloody off-season, same frustrations.

I'm all for stability but the club isn't going anywhere if we keep the status quo.

If we are going the local route, my vote would be for valkanis.I feel like Kurz will walk at season's end.
If so, we should target Stajcic.
He seems like a total student of the game looking to broaden his football knowledge and is currently assistant at PEC Zwolle in holland.
His stint as caretaker at AUFC is largely irrelevant given the circumstances and years spent since as an assistant.
It may actually be a fantastic fit and aligning of football philosophy with vaan der Pol. I would imagine both would also have fantastic knowledge and contacts of dutch players.

I'd be ok with that. I wouldn't mind Viddie, Mori or Mullen either. If we are going the local route, my vote would be for valkanis.I feel like Kurz will walk at season's end.

Never Vidmar. Anyone who calls Adelaide a piss ant town and suggests beheading players hasn’t got the right temperament to be a coach. His style was pretty dull if I remember correctly.

Yeah I'd love to see Micky V come back. Maybe he can turn the tide of AU players heading to City and AU can pick up a heap of their players! If we are going the local route, my vote would be for valkanis.I feel like Kurz will walk at season's end.
