I agree, IMO though a defender was always more of a need after how leaky we have been for 18 months.

Re: The Next Coach of AUFC
I really wouldnt rule out the return of gombau.
Piet has mentioned in interviews how he first became interested in the club with gombau in charge. His view on how football should be played is also similar to Gombau.
He is currently on a 1 year deal in India.
Im not sold on the idea , second time around is ALWAYS harder but what gombau was able to do on our tight budget was fantastic, imagine if he had access to some genuine classy marquees . It was gombaus intention to bring puyol here in his first year... who knows what might happen if piet and gombau team up?

Re: The Next Coach of AUFC
We would need one thing to succeed again under Gombau: buy-in, from players & club hierarchy (and supporters). We had this the first time round and saw the Catalan revolution through to a FFA Cup / Premiership / Championship, at which point it was (for some reason) dismantled.
At WSW Gombau took over a strong-willed playing group who were used to doing things a certain way and were not prepared to retool. They were thrown under a bus by Poppa leaving right before the season started so it's not really a surprise.
Anyway I am on record as being a huge Gombau fan, the last half of his first season with us was the best football we've ever played.

All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

I'm not a fan of dating an ex again but you have to say that there are a lot of players that played their best ever football under Gumby. Players like Elrich and Boogers who were older A-league squaddies who didn't get retained by their home town clubs, then under JG they are getting national team call ups.

Not sure I want to go down that path again BUT someone of a similar philosophy would do wonders.
Marco is a passionate guy but for whatever reason that doesnt translate to his players onfield. With Josep you saw the passion he had extend to the guys and it was fantastic to watch.

How about some stability?

If the owners want someone of their own choosing then that's fine, but they have to give him their full support. How about some stability?

I just want see exciting, skilful and entertaining football surrounded by 14,000 others at Coopers once again. Is it too much to ask? Who’s going to bring it?

Re: The Next Coach of AUFC
Give Kurz another 2 yr contract IMO.
He has been hamstrung by a marquee striker chewing up alot of money for no return.
Once we offload Baba he will have some money free'd up to bring in a quality foreigner.
Also offload Ilso.
Others can stay.
Maybe hire a attacking/striker coach to covert our forward play to into goals.
This is the one thing Kurz has not been able to get right (not entirely his fault).

Wouldnt say it's the one thing, our defence has been a shambles for nearly 2 years under his watch.Give Kurz another 2 yr contract IMO.

Re: The Next Coach of AUFC
Up until the brisbane game we had the second tightest defence in the league, so to last season.
We have been prone to the odd defensive howler that will remain burned into our minds but this is an individuals error.
As a unit we have been as good defensively as almost anyone else howlera aside.

The issue is we dont make teams work terribly hard for their goals.
