Probably another example of Michael Petrillo having a great relationship with former AU players luring them to the best football set up in Australia.

But this does raise the point. The FFA should look at establishing a father/son rule. If a player plays a certain amount of HAL games the club can have the option to sign their son outside the cap. This would be a wonderful way for clubs to build the community feel watching different generations of the same family represent the club.

This raises another point. The relationship between the FFSA and AU obviously needs work. The club has said they are working on building the club up in the community. I think developing their relationship with the FFSA and NPL clubs is key and the freedom they offer the AU NPL side would be a key measurement of how that work in the community is developing.
Fixtures have been released for the coming NPL season which AU is taking part hopefully we hear soon that the rules around which players AU can sign will be changed.
Top priority is allowing HAL contracted players under a certain age to take part. It would be fantastic to see Blackwood, AP and Konstand feature heavily and actually be able to string a good number of games together. Using Blackwood as an example he's played only just over 60 games in the 5 seasons since he signed with Sydney originally. He should be playing that many games in 18 months! I think 23 would be a good age to cap it at.

So Sergi Guardiola's career has gone from strength to strength since leaving AU! According to his wiki page. He signed a contract with a buy out clause of €15 million! That was with Segunda side Cordoba. Last season he went on to score 22 goals in the Spanish 2nd Div. He has now signed in the Jan window for Real Valladolid (who has recently been bought out by the Brazilian Ronaldo). So he's now featuring in La Liga matches. If anything highlights that AU are a terrible club for providing strikers service this proves it! I have to laugh that some fans were writing him off at AU and now he's a La Liga striker!

There is the opposite of a Where are they Now at the end of this video about a famous sporting story. Where were they then?

Also Guardiola was terrible, even Diawara was more productive.

He was terrible for us, which is what matters.

I we had a dollar for every striker who has been useless at one club then become a hero at another we could have bought a great striker by now. It's wonderful that he's doing well now. He wasn't doing well then - for us - when we needed him too. It's surely not all our fault or his. That's football and human beings.

Guardiola was terrible here and his attitude matched.

It was clear he had quality but his short comings were not his midfielders service or his quality, it was his attitude.

I dare say he realised as a failed aleague striker his career was on death row and was forced to take a solid look at himself.

Remember the fact that he even came to australia was an indication of how poor he had been in spain.

Not sure I agree with that last bit. I mean that would suggest people in half reasonable leagues should never come here.

He went from signing with barca B to anadelaide united reject by the age 25. That is a long way down.

I just remember him trying to put himself about a lot and falling over plenty. Rarely looked composed, running out of room, losing the ball and looking frustrated. Seemed to be trying though.
Maybe he's being used very differengly now.

It speaks volumes that players come to adelaide from overseas and end up setting up home here. Flores has definetly become more likeable now he is playing in the npl. Im a big para hills knights fan but having carrusca and flores in the npl has made it really exciting. Looking forward to another season avoiding relegation.

Excellent!

Looking forward to the the original Adelaide "clasico" even though I won't be anywhere near Adelaide this year.
