Ilso a chance to play in the cup game but Baba is still a few weeks away. Both lacking match fitness, no injuries mentioned.

Anyone know why Blackwood hasn't been playing in the preseason games?

Maybe he's looking at a move away ?? Would be good to ask the club.

Football Federation Victoria will petition for the removal of a “ridiculous” policy that forced a team to conceal an Italian flag emblem on their jersey during an FFA Cup match on Wednesday night.
Club committee member Anthony Nuzzaco said despite having their FFA Cup playing strip initially approved by Football Federation Australia, Avondale were instructed to hide a small strip of colours from the Italian flag that sat on the back of the team’s jerseys.

No roots, no growth.

Just seems utterly ridiculous to me. The game needs history and passion.

Not everything to do with the old days was bad.

The clubs from the old days were important social connections in their local communities, but as far as being part of a national football competition pretty much everything from the old days was bad.

However, I think the FFA have brought us far enough to be able to make some concessions regarding a nod to a clubs roots.
There are a couple of things I think would be fine:
1) a strip of colours (eg colours of a national flag) on the back of the collar or on the trim of the sleeves (within a maximum size); and
2) initials of the original club name on the back of the shirt (within a maximum size) - like the way the Sydney Swans have SMFC on the back of their jerseys.

Madness isnt it.

Even the australian flag still has the union jack refering to our colonial heritage why should clubs not show their history with pride? Football is supposed to be all inclusive and celebratory of a multicultural society.

Doing so does exclude others from said club. Its exactly the same way of thinking that australia is no longer a white british colony despite the use of the union jack.

Just put on a kit and play, no need to make a huge fuss about it.

There is far too much fuss about what is on a kit or not on a kit. In this case why does it matter whether there is a small area containing three colours. FFA should have just let them wear it, forcing the cover up is just a joke.

The FFA need to worry about things that matter like getting expansion of the A-league right, introducing a national 2nd division, having a proper youth league, organising friendlies for the Socceroos, instead they fritter away their time on making a big issue out of nothing.
If a club wants to Italian or Greek or Russian or Brazilian or Kalifumbiwhunkonaian why stop them? Does it really matter? Get a proper league structure together, have every body in it and if an ethnic club is successful and is in the A-league then so be it. If not they can stay in the 3rd or 4th or 5 tier and IT JUST DOES NOT MATTER.

FFA need to sort out the big picture and not worry about a club having a tiny symbol of Italy on there shirt.

And the FFA could not even get their stupid pointless nit picking right. They originally approved the kit and then realised their incompetence and went back on their decision.

I don't see why their needs to be a symbol of Italy on the shirt, KEEP IT SIMPLE, but seeing they wanted it there then the FFA should just keep its nose out of the small stuff and instead stick it up in the air and smell the shit the football in this country is becoming because of them.

It does. It alienates new supporters and brings back the image of the bad old days. We changed to the a league to rid the racial crap and segregation.
The media already hate football and this crap would just help them with their propaganda
