Ok, so who was THE signing we missed out on this year?

criteria: Transferred this year, has a link to Adelaide.

- Vidosic
- McGree
- Bozanic
- Burns
- Carrusca

Probably Vidosic of all of those. Konsta is developing extremely well, but we never really replaced Chelo. What's handy about Vidosic is that he can double as a winger - he would have come in handy when Absa was out.

Burns would have been great for our attack in hindsight, but if he wanted to be here, he would have come here. He didn't do much for Wellington, a team that did little in their own right.

We didn't need McGree with the outstanding Adlung and Bozanic has fallen into a relative hole.

It was a shame to see Carrusca go.

Current form says Vidosic, he wouldn't have been able to rip us to shreds either.

Its such a tough question to answer.
Without hindsight. I would have presumed Burns would re-create his Wellington form, while I would have presumed Vidosic would be as disappointing at City as he was at WSW.
I just find getting attached to these sort of players very hard to do these days as. Even if AU signed one of them and they set the HAL alight, chances are they'd be off to China in the Jan window anyway.
It would have at least been nice to see a local lad in McGree back with AU.

I've barely stopped watching it, talking about it or telling people about it! So well done Riley.
Great game and result overall too.
Fingers crossed for a newy gf in newy against the vuck.

Can we count Antonis as an available signing that we missed out on? He was absolutely incredible tonight.

No Adders link there is there??

Other than he was linked to AU in the off season.

By the way, what is a "Cantera"?

Spanish for quarry. Rojos's vision for an Adelaide United made of home grown and developed players only. An insular production line with no Vinnie Lia's. I don't think I've seen him write anything about a wall though 😉

Thank you for the answer RedRebel.

Hey, I'm not across the "wall", can you explain?

I think McGree could have made all the difference, given us real drive from Midfield and pushed us past MV in the final. If Carrusca was fit he could have been the one as well as we really lacked creativity.

I think the "wall" reference might have been about only playing south aussies and keeping players from over the border out. Like Trump's Mexico wall. Is that right?
