13 years and still can't beat them in a final. Will probably be another 13 years before it actually happens.

Melbourne Victory 2-1 Adelaide United

Crikey beaten but not bowed.
And great effort by the United Away supporters.

The cold, dark off season is upon us.

Cannot fault the effort, we played well it came down to who’s side luck falls on.

However we should have been playing against 10 men for half the game. We all knew valeri or williams would do something crazy abd get away with it abd geee wiz it happened.

Should be an exciting off season, new owners , more money and a better positive vibe around the club

Very proud of the boys tonight. Another night it might have been ours. I don't mind losing to a great goal like that, just sucks which player and team scored it!

Onwards and upwards.

Williams would have played 15 games if he was officiated accordingly

Great to be here. Adelaide played well and put everything in. Disappointed to lose, but MV in Melbourne was always going to be tough.

It could have gone either way, so it’s a fair result really. Imagine what we would do with a quality #10 (not like Troisi who has been crap for a while) and a striker with the hunger of that psycho Berisha.

I think otherwise we gave it our all and played as well as we could. We were disciplined, at times incisive, and that’s a positive.

If Kurz sticks around and the new owners have some money, maybe we’ll be able to shed the underdog style and start dominating again. I wish

Yes, imagine if we had a striker who would run and work for the team. Oh well. Big 'Ghengis Khan' was that for one whole game but the bubble had to burst eventually! :) We played well tonight. It would be bearable if the loss wasn't to Victory. Good game plan, well executed but the story of the season is that Kitto is our top scorer. With 7. Enough said. We've unearthed some talent. Marrone is one of my favourite players but he was given a bath tonight by Victory's cleverest player. A great season from Elsey too but his junior coach is probably still yelling, "Goalside Jordan, get goalside" at him. Grappling Berisha from behind rather than giving himself a chance of taking the ball first bit him on the arse - and all of us as well. Not to take anything away from the mad Albanian. That was a great strike. We played a lot of long ball but also some beautiful passing moves. Our midfield is good. Our defence is adequate. Our attack is...missing. I'm not sure we can afford to be generous with Baba anymore. It may not be his fault that he's never fit and maybe the system doesn't suit him but he doesn't seem interested and the others don't seem to rate him either. Nice turn in the box for that one shot but other than that....?

And so another season ends and I'm not even sure how I feel about it. We've had some good nights at Hindmarsh and that's the best of it. Perhaps....perhaps....if we have a consolidating off-season and we add one or two decent players we might challenge next year. For now, I'm almost grateful its over.

Who would have thought that a season of faux outrage about VAR would end up in the VAR being unwilling to overturn an erroneous decision in the finals.

Even so, keep VAR away from that sort of yellow -to-red adjudication. It's too fraught with danger.

Morning after, and I'm still proud of the boys. Looking at the respective line ups in the front 4 we were punching above our weight.

Berisha over Baba
George over Absalonsen (even though Johan has been excellent)
Barbarouses over Mileusnic
Troisi over Konsta
