Yeah exactly. That's my big concern.Well yeah. It could go one of two ways. We don't want these guys to turn out like the Bakries did for Brisbane.
I recall Griff talking about Chinese interest in football schools in Adelaide with a potential development being looked at near Majors Rd.
If this is their plan then that is something I'm excited by. If AU is offered the funds to be a true development club and a focus is given to the long term then I think the future is promising.
If Francis Wong is still involved with the FFSA then I feel there is a good chance the new owners and FFSA could build a very fruitful relationship.
My best case scenario would be roughly:
- Funds given to develop Playford training centre. Grandstand and facilities to allow NPL games there.
- Football school created. Engage with existing schools with football programs (Gleeson and Cardijn college for example). Using these relationships to channel players of promise into AU squads.
- Funds made available to ensure we don't see more McGree's leaving the moment they get to HAL standard. Offer these kids decent contracts to stay here for a couple more seasons before allowing them to move on around 22yo not 17yo. Then re-invest those hopefully high transfer fees into the club.
- Fill holes in HAL squad with high quality visa stars.
- Recruit high quality Asian player.
- High level focus on ACL participation.
- Addressing Hindmarsh stadium situation. Best case scenario is obviously looking at acquiring the stadium. Realistically try take on management of the facility.
