Yep, it was rumoured at the time that the previous ownership felt that was the job done and people would be satisfied.

I really like the academy idea, it needs to happen. Development leads to winning, winning does not lead to development. Having knowledgeable people in charge of our club will be a great change

Yep everything Piet said in that interview with Val sounded good to me. He mentioned spending the cap wisely and didn't mention marquees so that might not please some.

They've advertised for a commercial manager and expect to appoint someone within 3 months. That I guess will be an early indicator.

Yeah I’m not really expecting any flashy player signings but i do hope that these guys will at least finally bother to have a proper staff in place behind the scenes so we can resemble a professional organisation

Not sure if anyone has listened to the foxsports podcast, but Kossie shed some light on the new owners that was very encouraging. He said that he met Van Der Pol at the game on the weekend and Piet spoke about their desire to reconnect with the local community and invite all past players back into the fold. Kossie seemed genuinely excited for the future of the club under the new ownership. all good stuff to hear.

All sounds promising and I really appreciate the new ownership not running into the spotlight beating their chest about how amazing they are. It seems like they have a calm measured approach and want to let results do the talking.

In regard to kossie it has to be said, this is a pattern for him. Everytime new people come into the club and look to fill new positions he has only goid things to say. It literally earnt him his last gig at aufc.

(Or listen here if it's easier to select the time below, caption is 'Adam Peacock, Simon Hill and John Kosmina review the Socceroos' loss in Norway, assess how far Adelaide United can go, and have a cheeky poke at Australia's national cricket team': https://player.whooshkaa.com/shows/fox-football-podcast)

The talk about the new ownership consortium begins after 22 minutes in.

given the amount of time piet has spent in adelaide both before and after the sale makes me feel this is not just a cold financial investment for the consortium.

Honestly, i could care less about big name marquees if they can bring back the old days at Hindmarsh, it was such a unique time!

Its crazy to think a dutchmen gets this but previous local owners could not.

A nice article on the turn-around in AUFC's approach under the new management.

Thanks for posting. Yes sums up well the greatness and albeit weirdness that somehow all collided at once a coupe of seasons ago and since as well.
We all know how much potential is there, Looks like we may have owners that understand it now too.
Very exciting times ahead then (:

Pretty much mirrored everyone's thoughts in a very well written colum.

I didn't go to the end of year dinner this year after being present at the last 2, I figured it would be more of the same. Disappointed I didn't go now, need to hear some positivity about the club

Trials will be held for male players born in 2002/2003 only
https://www.adelaideunited.com.au/news/ ... rials-2019

One thing I was concerned about with the new owners coming in was that the old owners ran the NPL side fairly independently of the HAL club so I was worried we'd be back at square one with the club having a local side.
Gladly that isn't the case and the club will have an NPL side next season is appears.
