Yeah agree mate. It was soft but Gulum gave him the excuse to make the call.It was a beautifully timed dive that relied on the defender putting his hands on him - which there is no reason to do. It was SOFT but an experienced defender should not be doing that as it simply asks the attacking player to go to ground. If VAR had been called on I very much doubt they'd have overturned the decision for anything 'obvious'. That being said, the referee was so incredibly poor that it makes you wonder why we bother turning up. Inconsistent, biased, stubborn and half-blind, apparently. Luckily he had assistants just as bad so they could all have a beer later and tell themselves they did a good job. The 8000 people at the ground who disagreed were obviously just stupid. But it has been this way virtually all season so I can't see change coming. It looked a red on first viewing but looking at the replays, there was minimal contact and Buhagiar probably should've got a yellow for simulation.Ref had a shocker.
Very poor start by us.
Great comeback and were the most likely to get a winner.
Shhh, say it softly (I've only seen it live), but it looked like a fair enough red card from where I was sitting. The CCM player was through and it looked like Gulum gave him a little nudge.
But, as has been said, what a last 30 mins!!! Bloody great night at Hindmarsh and a long-term memory to put away of a team that has heart and character. If only Absolonsen was fit to contribute we'd be even better. Love the Marrone/Strain combo.

Well now we know why Gulum didn't hang around after getting sent off.
I hope he can get some sleep!

"you wonder why we bother turning up"
then you answered your own question
"what a last 30 mins!!! Bloody great night at Hindmarsh and a long-term memory to put away of a team that has heart and character"
That's why I'll be there at every game I possibly can, regardless of poor refs, bias towards the Sydney & Melbourne teams, conflict between FFA and club owners, not bringing in injury replacements, no money for marquees, etc, etc.
It's my team and I love them.

I'm pretty sure Ersan's wife was in Melbourne. How'd he get there so quickly?

Gulum committed a professional foul for sure, and the opposing dickhead made the most of it, but it was not a straight red as there was no chance that was a clear goalscoring opportunity. That's my interpretation of the incident anyway.

Greg Griffin weighs in, with his trademark mix of level-headedness and professionalism
“Just cancel the VAR system,’’ Griffin told FFA.
“It is used so badly that all it does is give an opportunity for the public to lose what small degree of confidence and interest it has left in your capacity to run the A-League to fester. “The only slight positive from the debacle that was played out was that at least for their first time CCM (Mariners) was not on the receiving end of third rate refereeing decisions.
“No fair-minded person could begrudge CCM some gifts at last from the failure to use the VAR to identify blatant errors by the referee which were in their own way as bad as his errors against us in the first Victory game.”
http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/foo ... d27037d80a“I do hope that AUFC (Adelaide) gets another letter of apology from Ben (Wilson),’’ he said.
“We are wall papering the lunch room at Playford (Adelaide’s training base) and these will save us having to purchase paper.
“AUFC can only wonder where it would be on the ladder if it had throughout this season not been subjected to poor refereeing performances and inconsistent usage of the VAR technology to address those obvious errors that other clubs have benefited from.
“I trust that action will be taken against those responsible for last night’s farce and that this time the result of that inquiry not be withheld from the clubs and the public as occurred after our Victory game.”

Lol.
The more club owners, coaches, etc weigh in, the better.
The FFA deserve to be ripped a new one for their bullshit tinkering with the VAR etc while neglecting the core of the game.

Yeah I like the idea the people at our club being model citizens but it's gotten us nowhere. I don't fully agree with Greg's methods and ideas but he does go into bat for us pretty hard so I respect that.Lol.

Good on greg griffin. Standing up and using the platform we dont have and speaking on behalf of us. Meanwhile gulum faces further suspension for his outburst. You know, the kind of outburst we see from berisha or matt mckay or kevin muscat week in week out with no consequence.

Love griffin! He really goes into bat for the club and players. Not often do I praise a lawyer but he deserves it.

Shoving a ref is only a 2 game ban if you wear a blue shirt, so surely clapping in ones face is 6 weeks+ if you wear a red shirt....Good on greg griffin. This is Greg Griffin's redeeming quality, he is happy to go in to bat for the club with this sort of stuff and he can back it up.

The way the quotes from the email read i think it was written mostly for aufc fans as something to get behind and the clubs way of saying “we get! Things are broken and we feel the same but we cannot directly say it”

On another note,
Watrs has a chance to submit questions to Isaias,
Im mentioning it here because i stickied the thread and realised sticky threads are often over looked. So just giving everyone a chance to put in their questions
