Here's how I'd line up:

----------------------Izzo------------------
Marrone---Elsey---Gulum---Strain
---------------------Isaias-----------------
---------O'Doherty---Adlung---------
Mileusnic-------Stama---------Kitto

Bench: Margush, Regan, Garuccio, Blackwood, and one of Brook OR Konstandopoulos.

Konsta has been very good this season but I would also love to see a bit more of Brook. 16 years old and did not look out of place at all!
All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

So the olyroos guys are back in contention.

I dont think garuccio is in our first 11 now.

Izzo will probably come back in but margush is pushing him.

Im interested to see if konsta gets the nod over odoherty, i think fans want to see odoherty start more often.
IMO Blackwood is the only one of those three I'd be rushing back in.

Not a good advertisement for the value of U23s when our best come back and are at risk of losing their spot in the 11.

Imo in terms of development , a player playing regularly at the senior level is better off doing so than playing in under age tournaments. But thats fr another thread

I would love Strain back to the right and drop Marrone, he's been awful IMO.

I think he's been very good but football is a game of opinions!
Anyway, both Garuccio and Marrone can play as wingers too so that gives us another option if one comes off the bench.

Absolutely Marrone has been well below his usual standard.

Given the trip home I would say Izzo is the one most likely to start, I would like to see us back in the kids again but we do need some more experience.

I was fairly happy with Marrone on the weekend. What's he doing that's disappointing people?

I think having Ochieng instead of Mileusnic playing in front of him didn't do him any favours. I recall a few decent attacking forays and some key tackles but maybe his passing wasn't quite to his usual standard.

Yeah true, Ochieng was sadly disappointing. Last week was his big opportunity to stake a real claim for being considered a candidate for starting. Now he'll probably need to either waiting for another chance or seriously impress off the bench.

I think Marrone gets into good attacking positions really well but cannot put in an effective cross. Definitely not the only player on our team with that problem but it does stand out more because he seems to get in those situations fairly often.

Marrone's form this season has been dire. Not up to the standard he has set for himself. However his past couple games have been getting better. Hopefully he has put it behind him and he rekindles some reliability in his performances.

It's the final ball, it has been woeful most of his season.

The rest isn't too bad.

He had a long lay off with injury and is still finding his best form. He can still elude an attacking forward as well as or better than anyone else in the team. Time was that his crosses into the box were as pin-sharp as Goodwin's and better than Kitto's, but his crosses have been well below his usual standard for the past month. Once he has a few more games under his belt, though, his crossing ability will sharpen up and then we will have three strong crossing options - Kitto, Mileusnic and Marrone.

I'm still not quite convinced that Ben Garuccio is the right option for the back line. I prefer him as a left wing, where he seems a lot more comfortable. I would also be happy if Margush stayed between the sticks; no reflection on Izzo, but we need to develop Margush and clearly he is good enough to play at the top level.

I'm very happy with Stamatalopodopoflopogopolous in the centre forward spot too. He is another youngster who clearly did not look overawed when he started. Blackwood's spot is not as secure as he may he have thought when he left for his Olyroos duties. Similarly, O'Doherty and Brook do not deserve to be dropped, but it may be difficult to fit both of them into the matchday squad.

We finally have very strong competition for all positions; it was effectively our third string team that took it right up to Sadney and we nearly beat the #1 side. Knowing how much depth that we have in the squad now sparks the next debate - who is in our best XI? I'm not sure that I could say at the moment.
"Hang on, lads; I've got a great idea".
