What a kid!

And where has he come from??? Out of nowhere it seems.

And well done to the club for recognising his potential and signing him up for a couple more season!

Absolutely rock solid in defence and going forward he is really positive. That ball in for our goal against CCM last night was deadly.

Keeping Marrone out of the starting 11 is a huge show of confidence from Kurz.

Perhaps he can move up to right mid (Strain-Isa-Adlung) and Marrone play RB?

Super youngster!

I wonder how long we can hang on to him?

Yeah where has he come from.

According to wiki he has never played any national youth teams. Have things just clicked for him or does australia still have a problem with talent identification?

Keeping marrone out is huge but also a problem as he is one of our most consistent performers.

A nice problem to have! Although im not sure strain will be here next season

Yep agree with all of the above, feel really confident when he is near it and never gets beat 1-1. Doesn't he have another brother or two that are supposed to be decent too?

It was said on the 442 forum he is not eligible to play for Australia for two more years. No idea if that is true or not but he was born in England and he was at Aston Villa for a while. Surprised he didn't succeed at Aston Villa but maybe the rejection from there and/or the obviously excellent youth system we have has spurred him to a different level.

It is quite clear that he (and Atkinson for City) are much better RB options than Cowburn who is the only specialist RB option in the current Olyroos squad. Having two exciting RB options emerging is just what the Socceroos need seeing it is a great weakness

His older brother Tom Strain is a striker and plays for Modbury, Don't know of any other brothers.

I remember there being a bit of interest on footballnews when the brothers came to SA from Villa. Highly rated even then iirc.

Excellent footballer. Looks so composed. He's still young so may even have a lot of improvement left in him. If so he could be anything.

Not having a go at people asking about where Ryan has come from, but he's been with AU for more than a year. Took part in last season's NYL then played a full NPL season with AU locally.
This is one reason why I really encourage fans to get along to NYL and NPL games when you can. You're more than likely to see the next stars coming thru.
I'm not pretending that I attend lots of these matches. But over the years the ones I have I found it so rewarding to see players I noticed doing well move on to the HAL. O'Doherty and Kamau would be two that really impressed me at NYL level.

With a name like that, and acrobatic celebrations how can we miss him! :D
