Re: Matmour gone
Bruce was interviewed by channel 9 who said he hasn't been approached. Would love to have another year or 2 in Asia before coming back but didn't rule it out.

If we think Bruce is the answer then we are asking the wrong questions

No, we don't think Bruce is the answer.
No one has said he is the answer but some of us really like him and I for one would welcome him back to the club.
That's all.

He would be a fantastic clubman, as he has always been, but a waste of a roster spot. No, we don't think Bruce is the answer.

It's very small minded to say "He's a good bloke so let's have him back at the club". If we are in the business of winning and improving we don't want him at the club.

Djite was a vital part of the second half of the season when we won the Championship.
He proved me wrong by scoring 11 goals in 14 games after he started scoring. While I doubt he would quite do that again he certainly could help the team if Baba does not find form soon.

He and Baba might be a bit too similar in style, but can you imagine the damage the two of them would do up front together?
All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

Sounds like we are going for cahill.
This will make hardcore fans squirm but probably will also bring people through the gates at a time when the club is having a public tiff with the sports minister

Re: Matmour gone
look if FFA give us a million dollars to sign Tim I'd take it.
But would he play any role other than what he did for MelC (mostly off the bench)? Is he more effective than Baba? More importantly, would he unsettle the team and run afoul of the coach soon enough?
His last 5 clubs, Everton included, he's parted ways with due to mutual termination of contract.

Re: Matmour gone
He can play left mid, but would need to be subbed in the 60th.
If he plays matmours role he will do little defending sitting next to baba and will drift between the the lines of the front third in attack.
I guess if kurz thinks he can make it work fair enough.
Cahill isnt coming here for the club though is he, he would be here for himself. Fans will know this.

Re: Matmour gone
For a starting spot I could only see Cahill in the Matmour role. Could he do 90 minutes? Probably not, which means you have one forced sub each match, whether on 60 minutes or 70 minutes or whenever.

I would still love to have him play for us. He's been a hero for a generation of Aussie football fans.

I'm comfortable with him playing the role for 70-75 then bringing youth on when he runs out of gas.For a starting spot I could only see Cahill in the Matmour role. Could he do 90 minutes? Probably not, which means you have one forced sub each match, whether on 60 minutes or 70 minutes or whenever.
He will need to be at his best to play in Russia so if he helps us win so be it
Re: Matmour gone
Can’t play til January apparently:
From Twitter:
To clarify, Tim Cahill was signed to @MelbourneCity during last transfer window so isn't now a free agent. Can join any club now but only play once that club's transfer window opens, ie Oz Jan 3. Interestingly, UAE window opens next week
