Injury Replacements

Postby ozisnowman Fri Nov 17, 2017 10:10 pm

With our long term injuries and Timmy Cahill not getting game time under Joyce maybe Timmy should ask to be loaned out, we could sure use him as an injury replacement. Hey the champ needs game time for Russia 2018 I’m sure Adelaide United could assist

No disrespect but Tim and Adelaide are like chalk and cheese.

We don’t need an ego like his in the dressing room.

Would rather Baba and Blackwood any day of the week.

Heck get Marino back here before we sign Cahill.

Bad fit, see ya later Timmy.
It'd rob a player in our squad of a spot who deserves it.
World cup is 7 months away, he can plan for it all he likes but 'roos shouldn't be looking towards him to be a key player in Russia.

At AU he'd be in the same position as at MC. A dangerous option who'd be good to have available - but no longer a guaranteed starter week in week out - more an impact player off the bench.

Mind you, if we could trust that Baba would stay fit all season, then I'd take Cahill over Blackwood every day of the week. (Sorry George.)

Its doubtful cahil would be in our first 11 for the roos.

Juric is out number 1 striker, he has improved so much since the aleague.

Cahill off the bench or potentially starting one game to give juric a breather is most likely.

However his experience and impact on the squad practically guarantees he is going to the world cup imo. Im almost positive cahill is as good for the roos behind the scenes at squad level as he is on the pitch.

Would much rather Blackwood than Cahill, even if Baba was unfit.

And unfortunately for the Roos we still need him off the bench. His aerial ability still rivals the best in the world and his goal scoring ability will definitely be required in Russia.

So Timmy cracks the shits because his opinion of himself is significantly higher than his coach. Surprise surprise.
He clearly thinks he's better than this league (although he hasn't shown it on the park) and he knows he can hold the game to ransom because the FFA made up brand new rules and threw money at him to get him to Melbourne in the first place.
The bloke would be poison for a club like ours. His importance to the Socceroos should have zero bearing on what's happening with his club career.

I would much rather we look at aussie wingers who are not currently getting game time that may look for move to make the world cup squad.

Awer Mabil? Doesnt seem to be getting much time but has been hovering around the roos squad. Who wants to bet Gombau will get him at wsw.

Ben halloren? Was a roos squaddie. Some solid minutes could get him back into selection

OG has just summed up my thoughts exactly. Get out of my head OG

Re an injury replacement, I can’t actually see us getting one. We will just promote youth.

:yoda:

By the time we sorted an injury replacement the players they're meant to replace would probably be back in the team anyway...

That is true now of even Regan. We could get one for Elrich but it does not seem it is happening.

Perhaps they looked at there was no one who would have added anything to the squad.
