The Mariners have just come off a big win and have their tails up. It could be a real challenge in front of the sauce bottles on Thursday night.

We have a horrid injury toll and seem to be having one of those starts where we continually look decent but without the rewards.

Any news on Baba? Some clinical finishing at the pointy end is what we really need at this juncture as we have no problems creating chances.

FFA cup is after this mid week.

Id prefer to prioritise the league over the ffa cup as their is no substantial prize money abd no ACL qualification. A win would be fantastic however at this point FFA cup is mostly a distraction.

Hopefully we can get a solid 60 out of Baba and give blackwood some time against a tired defence.

Having just one experienced defender back will do us so much good.

Isa won’t have to sit so deep and can put more pressure on midfield.

Elsey has been rock solid so he and Gulum would be near our full strength CB pairing.

With so far to go in the season, I'd rather go for the silverware while we have a chance. No one will remember if we finish 3rd, 4th, 5th or whatever. But to win the Cup ..... we'll remember that!

I agree. Who knows when the next chance to get our hands on a trophy is?
CCM are a young side. I'd love to see Kurz give a few of AU's kids a run on Thurs.

I still think we should pick our best available side for both games, but don't risk playing Baba or anyone coming back from injury, unless it's off the bench, just to get some minutes into their legs before the Cup game (eg Baba & Gulum).

The matches are:
Thu 16th - away to CCM
Tue 21st - away to SYD (FFA Cup final)
Sun 26th - home to WSW

That's 5 days between each match, hardly a congested fixture list. We need the best squad possible for each game.

As long as they don't rush Gulum back into the starting 11 prematurely for CCM and risk reinjuring him - just give him some minutes off the bench if he's ready. And don't give Baba a full 90 minutes against CCM either - just another 30 minutes off the bench, or 60 minutes from the start if he's ready for that. Just my opinion.

Agreed.

Although if Gulum is back to full training as reported he can probably start (and we do really need him). There’s less running for a CB than a mid or forward.

Not much risk of rushing him back i assume as his ribs have either healed or they havnt I doubt he would return with breathing issues. Unlike a hammy or knee injury where coming back early can see the same injury result

If his broken ribs aren't right then a crunching tackle could re-break them and possibly repuncture his lung?
