I am a big Gombau fan.
I was disappointed when he left us.
I was disappointed when it was shown up to NOT be homesickness when he ended up in the US, but could understand that maybe he left for other behind the scenes reasons.
I was disappointed when he came back to Oz as Olyroos coach, but was happy for the young players under his care and for Australia's better prospects with him as coach.

But this move to WSW is the most disappointing - I experience it as both a betrayal of the Olyroos and a betrayal of AUFC. The only reason I can see for this particular move is money. And that disappoints me.
Whats wrong with being financially motivated as the rest of us are?

He honoured his non-compete clause with us and now he has landed a full time role. Dissapointing for us but the man is surely able to further his career ?

Leaves Adelaide at short notice during pre-season for "family reasons" wife was homesick etc. Takes up job with David Villa's academy in New York. Comes back to Aus full time as WSW coach.

Dickhead.
I am absolutely furious with this post. If I said what I want I am sure I would get banned so I will hold my tongue.

Good luck to Gombau except against us. If we don't win trophies I hope he does with WSW, he certainly has the squad.

It is a loss for the Olyroos, hopefully they can find a good replacement.

If he stops the bullsh*t tackles and give wsw some style then the a league is better for it. It hurts seeing such a beloved figure declaring his love for another team but more so because it’s for a scummy team with scummy supporters.

But he gave his all whilst at the helm, raised our profile and truly loved the boys. All the best to the man and he will certainly get an applause from me when he comes the coopers at the start. Once the whistle blows its game on. But I’d talk smack to my own mother if she supported the opposition during the 90.

If he was honest about his reasons for leaving this would be more palatable.

I'm disappointed in him and WSW. They started recruiting spainards after we did and now our coach after us. For allegedly one of the biggest clubs why are they not setting their own agenda and philosophy?

Good point actually

In many ways over the years i think adelaide has set the path for clubs to follow which us fantastic for a smaller club like AUFC

The only negative is that we manage to never complete the project by imploding and watch other clubs do what we started only better.

Best of luck to Gombau. An absolute legend. I am just barely an AUFC supporter these days as become sick of the behind the scenes bullsh#t.
It's also becoming very hard to support the A-League in general. I'm hoping for a successful 2 Div.
All stakeholders need to wake up before no-ones left. Past player's. staff and fans need to be shown more respect. AUFC has a very poor history of this. Bianco still has to be the best owner AUFC ever had.

We follow club football. If you want someone to never leave your side. Follow international football only.
It sucks but its the nature of the beast.

Annnnnnndddd..... he's gone.

Stupid from WSW, he had already starting signing his players for next season. I think I've said before that WSW wouldn't be patient enough to let him develop his style.

Where to now for him? Sadney FC?

I said this months ago, the players never wanted him and sooked it up all year because of it. They had a very talented squad that if they'd bought in, we would be playing them again this weekend.

I find this immensely amusing from WSW. Inherited a squad 4 or 5 matches into the season and misses finals so gets the sack hopefully we make a play for him if we lose Kurz.

Gomby would monster the league at SFC.
