POLL, Would you support a walk off
I was surprised how many of us mentioned last night that we would support Kurz taking his team off the pitch so i thought it warranted its own thread .
If a situation happens again as it did against MV or WSW would you support it knowing it means we forfeit 3 nil?
My honest opinion is that i would be very proud of Kurz and the club to make a stand and i would support it. However i hope it does not ever get to that point.
Ask yourself, if any of those tackles from the previous few games happened to Ninkovic or Brosque what would have been the outcome ?
It was not that long ago matt leckies bright career took a major detour as a result of a knee high challenge that only recieved a yellow. Does a future socceroo stars career have to be ended before things change?

Re: POLL, Would you support a walk off
The poll options are rather skewed as they are presented as : 'Do you care about the welfare of the players or are you Machievellian?' It is possible to care about the players' welfare and not support a walk-off. I've seen enough walk-offs in SE Asian football to know they are predominantly petulant affairs and encourage players to disrespect officials and the rules of the game.

Something needs to be done about it but there other avenues to work through it.

Re: POLL, Would you support a walk off
i see your point.
I touched on player welfare in the first option to indicate only in the circumstance of unpunished brutal tackles.
Niether option was meant to indicate we dont care about player welfare.
A no vote could indicate you support action but not on the pitch

Re: POLL, Would you support a walk off
tried to edit the options to a simple yes or no but im unable.
obviously i dont support a planned walk off. Only in another extreme situation when players look certain to be injured as they were last night without sanctions

Re: POLL, Would you support a walk off
While I would support a walk off to ensure players' safety, I suspect the ramifications, at least for AUFC, would be a lot more than the loss of three points.

Re: POLL, Would you support a walk off
I voted yes, but with reservations.
It really depends on context, things would have to get very very bad (and obviously crooked) for me to say a walk off is the best solution. For occasions like last night, the best thing would be to play out the game but for senior players / coach to be openly critical of how things were. That's a very tough ask seeing as they can get fined, but someone with skin in the game needs to ask some serious questions.

All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

Re: POLL, Would you support a walk off
I think we need a fan protest. Bit hard to arrange one for this game but if the Red Army could bring a banner and lead a well publicised chant around the ground. It will get coverage.
A walk off is a big step, I don't think we are quite there yet, but I would support one if the situation continues or gets worse.
I am not convinced it is a bias rather than incompetence but it is pretty bad against Victory and WSW in particular and getting closer to me being convinced.

I have voted no, but it is more of a not yet vote. However if the tackles fly in against city and the team wants to head off.

Re: POLL, Would you support a walk off
Obviously up to the players and officials and I can't see them doing it but if they did I would fully understand. Too many close calls for.our players. The FFS won't step in until someone's leg is snapped and even then I can see a limp statement made and that's it. Too busy planning the next big Sydney fixture to be bothered with small clubs problems

Re: POLL, Would you support a walk off
The fact that a level headed fan forum like WATRS can ( so far ) vote narrowly infavour of supporting such actions if the teams decided speaks volumes.
When fans are willing to lose 3 points in a premiership race things are broken from the top down of this league and that kind of sentiment doea not suddenly arise from a couple of rough weeks.
The aleague really needs to be run independantly, it would avoid all question marks of bias towards certain clubs from the management level all the way down to refereeing match. Which by the way IS a FIFA requirememt for those very reasons.

Re: POLL, Would you support a walk off
We should rather be getting a partition together to have FIFA takeover the FFA. They are not expanding the league, they are not adequately funding the league, the marquee player rules are skewed in favour of large eastern clubs and then their the perennial problem of shithouse and biased refereeing

Re: POLL, Would you support a walk off
Imagine the mainstream press reaction in Australia if AU walked off because the other team were "too hard".
" There was, he added, no room for spin, showmanship, hubris or “any of the feelings of invincibility” that so often shackle nations with an imperial past ... " - - -

Re: POLL, Would you support a walk off
Fan protest is best option.
Let the noise at kickoff subside then first chant at full volume.
"Red card. Red card. Red card."
Or
"Broken ribs. Broken legs. Broken refs."
