Re: Preview: Nix v AUFC 8-10-17
I think we will this game but it would be very unwise to underestimate Wellington. They have a new coach who might be able to bring out their best, players like Finkler and McGlinchey have been very good in the A-league. Kaluderovic might be a very smart signing up front, he has played in the A-league before with 5 goals in 10 games so knows what to expect and can score. He has not been playing in the strongest competitions since then but has scored lots of goals so will be confident if he gets an a chance to score.

Lia will miss this one as he’ll be serving a suspension carried over from last season.
Everyone else is reportedly fully fit.
My predicted squad:
Izzo
Marrone-Elsey-Regan-Garuccio
Konst-Isa-Matmour
Johan-Blackwood-Mileusnic
Bench:
Baba
Adlung
Gulum
Ochieng
Everyone else is reportedly fully fit.

Gulum

That is what I would go with as well, but maybe Adlung is fit enough to start, or even Baba might be preferred to Blackwood.Lia will miss this one as he’ll be serving a suspension carried over from last season.

Is Kitto at LB likely to happen again?

I felt he did a solid job in the FFA Cup match. Obviously one game against NPL opposition isn't enough to say he's earned the position completely but it's a step in the right direction IMO.
Time to Djbate!
Re: Preview: Nix v AUFC 8-10-17
I don’t want to see Kitto at LB as first choice.
My impression was that the coaching staff were trying to convert him to a LB to challenge Garuccio for the spot, or replace him if injured or suspended.
I think the wing positions will be well covered this year with Mileusnic, Matmour and Johan so it will probably be difficult for Kitto to get a look in at that position.

Re: Preview: Nix v AUFC 8-10-17
I felt he did enough to suggest with some more game practice and work he could develop into a decent A-league LB. However I am not sure he is ready to be a first choice LB. There is at least one poster on here who does not rate Garuccio at all, perhaps Kruz agrees and Kitto is the best option in his mind.
It would be clearer if we knew the team that played the last practice match against Melbourne City but I don't think it has been made available. Am I wrong?

If Ganoush is fit he'd start ahead of Blackwood you'd think.

Margush named as No1 and Izzo 20.
Surely Izzo is the preferred option.....?

Yeah he is, well at least for now. Izzo had the no.20 at the Mariners, so maybe he just wanted to keep his number.Margush named as No1 and Izzo 20.

Re: Preview: Nix v AUFC 8-10-17
Everyone is available bar Lia (and obviously Elrich).
Very strong squad on paper and some quality players will miss out altogether with two still to be omitted.
Get excited folks!

Yes despite so many years of pain, I am strangely optimistic about this season. I don't think we can win it but we can make a good fight of it.

Me too. Kurz's visa signings have been nothing but impressive. The side looks fit and seem to know where their goals are going to come from. I've tipped AU to win.Yes despite so many years of pain, I am strangely optimistic about this season. I don't think we can win it but we can make a good fight of it.
