It bewilders me that people say Kitto should play centrally. The dude has poor touch.
Did you see him play for Newcastle at all? He played centrally there.
He also played centrally for Birkalla where he won FFSA player of the season which got him noticed by Newcastle.
Well that settles it. Persuasive. I take it all back.
Haha good! :)
Yeah I'm not saying he's a superstar centrally. I just think his pace isn't up to being on the wing. IMO he has decent touch but his pace lets him down which is why from what I've seen of him he loses possession too often playing on the wing. He is generally strong on the ball so I think he would be better served playing there then out wide.
Time to Djbate!

Is it concerning anyone else that despite being here for a couple of months now, we've hardly seen Ersan play?
It looks to me like he's carrying some (maybe minor) injury and they're managing it.

Yeah.
Or perhaps Kurz just recognises how well Elsey and Regan are playing together and doesn't want to disrupt that (though that would represent the first time in the history of the world that a coach doesn't try to shoehorn his star signing into a team)
All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

Gulum reportedly tweaked a groin and will be out for two weeks.

Not ideal prep but Regan and Elsey are doing well at present.

Ok good to know. Agree we're doing ok without him for the time being but it's a concern if he can't get his body right.

CCM beat MV 2-0 in melbourne today.

Victory have lost against us, Newcastle and now CCM this preseason. The bottom 3 teams from last season.

CCM are going to have a strong midfield with Brama and Hiariej in there alongside Da Silva. If Asdrubal is a good goalscorer then they could make the top 6.

CCM seemed to have a full strength team, Victory no Matias Sanchez or Leroy George and they are being linked with a LB, Broxham played there today.

It seems like the club is taking this preseason a lot more seriously. I wonder if that is an FFA directive? I swear we played about 4 games last pre season and lost them all. Now we are playing a game a week and some other HAL teams are playing more than that. Good to see, hopefully the league starts stronger.

A Marco Kurz directive.

Train, train, train, then train some more.
Play football, run for ninety minutes, win game.

Repeat.

You could be right. The approach certainly has a Teutonic air.

i certainly feel kurz and german styled football may be a better fit for us than gombau/amor ( as much as i love them) .Playing good football and keeping the ball is still important but also embraces the physicality of your average aussie player while still being a little pragmatic in clutch situations.

I think you are right.

I loved the Spanish era and was sad to see it go.

But what Kurz has done already since arrival speaks volumes.

If all goes to World ranking plans, we'll be done with the German style in a couple seasons. The club will then bring in an Argentinian coach and style for a few seasons, then switch it back to a Brazilian led revival.
