AU to play at Norwood, WTF?

Please discuss.

NORWOOD Oval may be the new home for Adelaide United’s men’s and women’s teams.

United bosses have been locked in talks with SANFL club Norwood chiefs over the prospect after the Redlegs were approached to host Adelaide’s A-League matches.

If this happens, I will legit walk away from this club. We are the only club in the A-League to have a purpose built football only stadium, and we want to give that up so we can save a few more bucks. Any one with a modicum of footballing knowledge could see that this would be a disaster.

Seems like some posturing from the club to get a better deal at Hindmarsh.

Doesn't sound like the seniors will be playing there so I wouldn't stress.

Pulled this crap a few years ago. Was more sympathetic towards it back then.

Yeah like others have said, they're not serious.

I can understand the tight belt operations, but these antics by the board are really getting pathetic.

Yep just trying to get some leverage in Hindmarsh negotiations .

Regardless though it's terrible publicity for the club on the back of an adelaide oval game .

Surely no one in SA except for United supporters gives a damn where AU play so don't they understand that this message would also piss off their own people?

Reading the article a bit more carefully, apart from the title and the first line. It's really about the W-league team and not really the A-league team (citing Griffen's last threat as the reason why the men's team is going there too). Looks like a typical advertiser article...

Trolling the supporters?

The club appears to be talking to different venues regarding the W-League games, with Marden looking like the front runner. The A-League portion of the article appears to be spurious speculation from the Advertiser.

To be honest if the club can't make Hindmarsh work for them then there is no hope for the club long term.
Them saying they are looking at going elsewhere only makes them seem dumber than they look.
I'm sure this is nothing more than attempts for a new Hindmarsh deal. But when the club comes out less than 12 months ago talking about a purpose built stadium. This is the other end of the scale and highlights that the club is willing to do and say anything to get what they feel they want.

I'm trying very hard to be excited for the coming season but when club management have me banging my head against a wall I can't see it happening. I avoid things like political news as I find that very frustrating to listen to, football/sport was always a wonderful escape. But these days much of the news I read from the club is just as frustrating to read.

Norwood Oval would be as self destructive as a suicide vest.

It's clear as day we need a better deal out of Hindmarsh, so Griff is likely posturing.

I love Hindmarsh as much as anyone, but if an upgrade and a new deal aren't forthcoming then we risk getting left behind if we stay there. I have no issues moving the odd game, probably not to Norwood Oval, mind you if we were to play at an Aussie Rules ground that's probably the one.

Is it that clear?
I know AU did have one of the best deals in the HAL. Although that changed when the AEC took over.
