Marrone, Galeckovic and Chelo for me last night.
Could've voted for McGowan, McGree, Isaias and Garuccio too.

It starts sometime in October...Huff. How many days until the next season starts.
October, my gawd, redemption can not come quick enough!

This season still potentially has 6 more weeks to go. IF AU make it thru to the knock out stages of the ACL the round of 16 matches are in late May so will still be part of this season. Although knowing the club they wouldn't have thought of that and would have told everyone to go on holidays so they can stop paying them.

Surely Babalj has now put the final nail in his football coffin with the waste of yet another starting chance and final proof that he's an ornament that belongs on a shelf....somewhere. As for La Rock....FFS!!!!! Just go away.
Could we just choose players from the first half? I'm pretty sure the second half never happened - or maybe I just had my head in my hands the whole second 45.
It's going to a long off-season as we all wait for the mythical four great signings that every club except ours seems to make.

I thought Babalj was OK for the first half - great touches and lay-offs, but he's never going to beat anyone for pace. I really don't know what to think about him and his A-League future, he would have killed it in the NSL 20 years ago but he just seems the wrong type of player to do really well in the league now, unless he ups his strength and workrate.
All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

Babalj's not going to be on big money and I think he'd be a fine backup for Diawara. Much better than our solution of playing Cirio there for the past 4 years.

Babalj was not too bad, especially in the first half. He covered a lot of ground to get to contests when the ball was bombed forward aimlessly. Seeing he has not started for such a long time, probably years or did he start for us last year, it was not a bad effort. He obviously tired badly.

He made a few decent passes. He is extremely slow. He does not contest in the air. He gets beaten on the ball 99% of the time. He has been in training for ages and his fitness should be fine. He looks exactly the same player we had before: slow, soft, lazy. How many chances does a guy get because he was decent a decade ago? A backup striker still needs to be able to inspire confidence and at least look like he wants to get the ball.

I strongly disagree with your comment that he does not contest in the air, I was sitting in the western stand at the south end and saw him contest many times in the air in front of me during the first half. Quite often he had to cover quite a bit of ground to get to contests.

Looking back at his Heart highlights he looks so much quicker. If he had a bit more speed on him saturday night he would of had more scoring chances.
As for his 1 on 1 at the very start of the game, that was his chance to earn a contract right there. Our confidence is so low that we dont even look like scoring in 1 on 1 situations (unless we are offside, like cirio's disallowed goal)
