i was watching the match review from the Fox Sports Asia team. They were waxing lyrical about McGree and also eating humble pie as they had written Adelaide off, not just from the match but from the entire competition; now we are second :D

Is it possible to appeal Yellow Cards in the ACL? McGowan and McGree missing the next game for those 2 bullshit cards hurts us bad. Who are our other CBs in our ACL squad apart from Warland?

No Carrusca, would have to be Kim.

We could see Isa being played as a CB but without McGree to play DM we'd just be robbing Peter to pay Paul.

Obviously assisted with hindsight. But with Regan getting suspended, once AU went up 3-1 taking McGowan off for Warland would have been helpful.

So a good win for Jiangsu meaning they are thru for sure. This may work in AU's favour with them coming here in the final match day. Hopefully there isn't a great deal to play for as far as they are concerned and keeping their stars fresh for the CSL is a priority.

Considering McGowan's and McGree's cards were super soft, i didn't really see the need for this. We were under the pump defensively for most of the game and changing the CB pairing mid way through could have disrupted our structure.

That's true. We'd all be going bananas if McGowan came off and Jeju came back into the game.
At least this finally gives Warland a chance at game time. I was fairly impressed with his last game against City. Its sad he hasn't been offered another opportunity besides that.
I would love to see him get some game time on Saturday, especially if La Rocca is leaving.

I can see Warland being given alot of game time next season, with the departure of McGowan and possibly La Rocca. He has been around the club a while and much like Ochieng, I can see him fitting into the system nicely.

Im waiting for a knee jerk reaction from all the out of work managers who currently pass comment in the media to proclaim australian football is growing and that its amazing one of our bottom placed clubs could get out of the group in asia showing the strength of australian football.......yeah not going to happen is it?

Only a few months ago we were considered an embarassment , now we are a force in our group with a very talented home grown teenager making things happen in midfield.

My point? Dont trust aspiring managers who are out of work and give their oppinion in the media as its always agenda driven.
Ppl who slap the label of truth on the 1st thing they hear, do it out of ignorance, convenience or cant be bothered picking through a thin layer of falsehood to find the real truth, or possibly even another lie

A back 3 is rarely one central defender with 2 full-backs. It's usually 3 central defenders (or others moonlighting in that role) + 2 wing backs helping out with wide defence when pressed.

With the available squad and my memories of whose filled in where in the past a back 3 would probably be

Marrone-Isaias-Warland

(with Marrone not getting too far forward like he normally would.)

Paul Wilson is part of the ACL squad. I wonder if he's a chance of a call up?
