In McGree's defense, the defender went to make contact then pulled out.
McGree went to ground, without 1. rolling around like an idiot and 2. Not looking back at the ref for the whistle.

The ref made the decision.
Yeah i second this.

Sometimes its reasonable to expect contact but at the same time avoid your knee bending the wrong way and being out for the season.

If riley did the old jeronimo trip where he stubs his toe into the ground to make it look as if he has been tripped then different story. Although in jeros defence that incident was technically a pen he just made himself look dumb.

Great news. Hopefully he picks up a decent contract in Europe as he is ready for the move.

And hopefully for a nice transfer so we can make some money back. Really have to congratulate the club for going into unchartered territory and pay to get him here. He has had a cracking year and hopefully goes on to bigger things and makes us a little money too

Fingers crossed he sticks with the club for the coming season, has a cracking Olympics and secures a move that makes everyone happy. Obviously he's leaving as A-League champion too!

Riley McGree heading to Glasgow to join Celtic and Big Ange.
The Hoops agreed a fee in the region of £3million with the playmaker’s club Charlotte FC.

I feel like this is a step down from the championship, other than the opportunity to play in Europa / CL.

All the best to him.

Any word whether we get any sell-on bonus?

You'd hope if AU actually paid a transfer fee to bring him back. There would surely be something in that contract. Considering he also came thru the NYL ranks I think there would be something there as well although I doubt it would be much.

Off to Middlesbrough which, on the face of it, appears a smart move.

Much better move, they are only 3 points off promotion play offs at the moment (with postponed games and a lot left to play obviously).

Hopefully he gets the game time.

As a Boro supporter (apologies to anyone who thinks you can't support more than one team) I'm excited by the McGree signing and hope he's a big part of taking us up.

No need to apologise; V-Varen Nagasaki for me and I have a soft spot for many teams about the globe.

He's a much better fit for the Championship, though Celtic need him.

Agreed. Ange is salty but the Championship is a better league and has the dangling carrot of promotion to PL.

Riley is much better off at Boro. SPL is rubbish.

Will be great to hopefully see him and Goodwin together in the Green and Gold.
