Time to forget our League woes with a bit International competition!

ACL back at Hindmarsh, happy days.

Hoping we can play compact at the back without any brain fades. This sort of night may suit Reagan, he did a sterling job again Melbourne City with Cahill and Bruno.

Would prefer the Korean sat deeper than McGree in the triangle midfield.

------Jae-Sung
McGree - O'Doherty.

Maybe Papa can be the wildcard, maybe Mileusnic can surprise them with his pace but as long as we stay compact at the back, I'm happy.

Tips for first timers to ACL football.

1. Celebrate an AU goal like it's their last. It might well be.
2. Diving, there WILL be diving.
3. The best two and a half words we can say post game when discussing AU's performance. "Smash'n'grab".

Looking back at our head to head with Gamba, the last two times we played (and beat) them Daniel Mullen was instrumental. WTF happened to him?

Who ever plays on the wings are in for a hard night. They'll need to not only be up forward as often as can be. But they must be back supporting the wing backs.
People often have little good to say about Iain Ramsey but this was one thing I'll always remember from him in the ACL under Kossie. The guy was up and down the touch line all game. He may not have contributed a hell of a lot with the ball in his AU career but his work rate over that period was hugely impressive to me.

I'd be very surprised and disappointed if we see any of that kind of thing from Gamba.

I have very low expectations, but I also have a glimmer of hope I might be wrong. I wish we had a better CB pairing and the lack of Isaias makes me doubt we can keep them scoreless and I am not sure we can score multiple goals.

I predict 4-0 loss like WSW.

I think I would go with-

Hall
Marrone-McGowan-Reagan-Elrich
McGree
Kim-Cirio
O'Doherty-Baba-Garuccio

I am looking forward to this. There should be several around for beers, wine and football so you won't see me on the thread tonight.
