Re: Injury updates
True, but just about anyone can see how valuable Choi is, which is why if we don't hold on to him another club will surely sign him instead.

Re: Injury updates
Of course and no doubt the club sees that too.True, but just about anyone can see how valuable Choi is, which is why if we don't hold on to him another club will surely sign him instead.
But he's not a local and the club's visa spots are full. Unless they cut a visa player there is no way of keeping him. Obviously they aren't going to cut a visa player for another player that's not going to feature till next year.
Its a crappy situation for all really.

Re: Injury updates
Just to rub salt in our wounds for this season so far, our injury replacement is injured and all we've done is audition him for the rest of the league.
That's about the sum of it.

Re: Injury updates
Yeah that's true. Now everyone else know's he's good enough. We should release a story about him being a massive jerk and trying it on with all the other players wives!Just to rub salt in our wounds for this season so far, our injury replacement is injured and all we've done is audition him for the rest of the league.
That's about the sum of it.

Re: Injury updates
Genuinely sorry to hear this news.
Hope Adelaide handled it diplomatically and haven't shut the door on him returning down the track.
Still believe this kid is a future Socceroo.

Re: Injury updates
One thing. I hope that the club is helping him recover from his injury. Looks like we helped him with the surgery but he still has recovery ahead of him.

Re: Injury updates
It would be very disappointing if the club have just shut him out because he got injured, but sure the FFA/A-league would not allow him to be an injury replacement for Cirio when he is injured. If he was not injured I expect that is exactly would have happened. So there was probably no other option and there should be no reason why the departure would be anything other than good. He could well be back when he becomes an Aussie, but it is not a position in which we are lacking. By the time he is fit again we could have Cirio, Kitto, Henrique, O'Doherty, Garuccio, Miluesenic and Ochieng fighting for the two starting winger positions and the bench spot. The ACL might lead to some rotation and resting of players but would we need another winger.

Re: Injury updates
AFAIK the club isn't allowed to be providing him financial support when he isn't eligible to play for us. It's annoying as we could have kept him to replace Cirio while injured and potentially have had his citizenship sorted for a January signing.

Re: Injury updates
Sure they could pay him if they wanted to, he can be for all intents and purposes a regular employee of the club, he just has to be deregistered from the squad so he's ineligible to play. The issue is that even if they had the funds to pay him through to January, there's no guarantee he, La Rocca or Chelo will get their citizenship sorted and so therefore we may not have a spot for him.AFAIK the club isn't allowed to be providing him financial support when he isn't eligible to play for us. Re: Injury updates
Choi would surely be given support by aufc in regard to his injury, being injured at work means your employer has obligations.
It could be possible we sign him as as asian only player for acl and take it from there, atleast we have something to work with.

Re: Injury updates
I guess all of that would be in his contract. I'd expect a injury replacement contract wouldn't be the sweetest deal.Choi would surely be given support by aufc in regard to his injury, being injured at work means your employer has obligations.

Re: Injury updates
http://www.blacktownsun.com.au/story/42 ... e/?cs=1557Danny Choi has learnt the harsh realities of life in professional football.
“I was at training and went to pass the ball and I just felt a crack,” he said.
Geez, broke his foot passing the ball. The "socka is a soft game" brigade will have a field day with this!
