Predictions for the 2016/17 season

Postby Ghost Thu Sep 08, 2016 8:52 am

My predictions are,

Marino will score 13 goals, earn a move overseas and a call up to the Socceroos but everyone on here will complain that we are selling one of our stars.
Our new striker will score 4 goals
We will finish 4th in the A-league and make the finals
We will fail to get out of the group stage of the ACL.

Upper-mid-table finish. Solid but unspectacular. We'll make the finals but get knocked out by Sydney FC or Heart. Our ACL campaign will be a good one - through to the quarters, at least.

The kids will step up, especially Kitto and Marino. Cirio will have a good season but the other imports will struggle a bit. People will insinuate that Carrusca is past it; for his part, he'll get frustrated at some point and angle for a pay day in the Middle East.

An 'Adelaide City for A-League' push will gain momentum, spearheaded by our friend at the Advertiser. This will prompt endless discussion about crowd size, stadium infrastructure, and quasi-racist narratives about 'ethnic clubs'.

I will go to every game, wear red, and enjoy myself.
All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

This season there will be lots of ups and downs and I will get very emotional and make several forums posts in the heat of the moment that I will regret later.

We'll splutter a bit in early rounds attack-wise: our midfield and front three will take time to gel as a unit. Our build up will be fantastic but that is where it will fall apart. Carrusca will be busy.

We will either sign a prominent Socceroo yet, or have a player who will enjoy a strong season and get call-ups.

Overall we will make finals quite comfortably. We will have one of the best defences, but the attack of some other clubs will be better than ours.

Our ACL campaign will be strong, and we will win our group.

Amor will emulate what he spent years doing and follow the Barca philosophy that he grew up in. That is getting young locals to be part of their local team, where no single player makes or breaks the 11.

Melbourne city and some Asian mob will try and poach him by offering him much more than United, but his genuine love of the team will keep him at the reds.

Henrique will score a hatfull and United will win the plate

We will struggle to score but will be tight at the back. We will draw lots of games and finish just out of the finals on goal difference.

A young player will play a dozen good games before pissing off overseas to sit on the bench at a Finnish second division club. AU will get no fee as they released him because they had no choice as it was in his contract.

Predictions for the 2016/17 season

Postby EdDog Thu Sep 08, 2016 5:27 pm

WSW, Victory & City will finish above us.

Perth will fare well.

Jury is still out on SFC, Roar & Welly.

CCM & Newy to fight for the Spoon.

Adelaide will finish somewhere between 4th and 8th.

I think we will get out of the group stage of the ACL because we will be in full stride early.

This will be at the expense of a finals charge and we will finish the HAL season disappointingly.

We will then get knocked out of the ACL at the round of 16 or quarter final stage after the other teams hit their peak and our games get fewer and further between.

La Rocca will fail his citizenship test also.

City could be the best team in the competition and win everything but I think there is a decent chance they will be lost without Mooy and the attempts to get Cahill and Fornaroli to play together will fail and they will miss the finals.

There is no way that city will miss the finals. If they do I'll buy you a beer. If Marino scores 10+ goals aswell I'll buy you a carton.

-no offence to Marino but I dont think he'll get enough opportunity to score double figures once the visa striker is on board.
