Grand Final ticket prices

Postby MartinAUFC Sat Apr 23, 2016 12:32 pm

Hmmm… a bit steep perhaps ? Especially when compared to the Socceroo’s game in March. A World Cup qualifier and an A-League GF would be about on a par with most neutrals that would be considering buying a ticket I would have thought.

I hope we get close to filling the place or it’s going to be hard to get even close to last night’s atmosphere. If WSW get through that might help things as you would expect half of western Sydney to invade…. Urgh, what a disturbing thought :(

It is the only time we've had a GF after 11 years of the HAL, as such I suspect people will shell out. I know a number of people will be going for whom this is their sole AUFC outlay for the year.

Incidentally, how much were the tickets to the Liverpool game?

Yeah the Liverpool tickets were pretty pricey too IIRC, I think I paid about $60 just to stand on the hill.

Maybe I’m just being pessimistic but when you think we only got 30k for the NT playing in a WCQ with relatively cheap tickets it makes you wonder.

Of course a Sunday afternoon over a Thursday night might make a big difference too, but then that brings its own problem of lots of soccer types play on Sundays.

Any chance the FFSA postponing all their games ?

I hesitated for all of 5 minutes before purchasing mine. Grand Final in Adelaide is all I really needed to consider really.

Yep, got mine too. Indeed I would probably have sold my house/car/kids if I'd had to.

Not worried about the 20-25k of regular big game attendees, just the undecided floaters that need to make up the other 25-30k.

I think by making the cheapest adult ticked $59, they have brought a potential 50k crowd down to 30k. It's a bit greedy of the FFA I think. As the Fox sports crew said on their A-league podcast, if the FFA is serious about getting a major TV deal, they need to get more people engaged. By pricing so many people out, they are actually cheapening their overall product. It's short sighted thinking from the FFA.

I know 4 people who said to me they were super keen for the GF, but when I told them the price, they said no, they'll have a BBQ and watch at home instead. Sure, is die hards will go regardless, but that's not what this opportunity is about. It's about increasing the supporter base for seasons to come. Opportunity missed in my opinion. Rant over...

What a win last night, we will beat anyone next week!

Last night's game seems to be getting some serious airtime which will help generate excitement. Hopefully the fact many people missed out last night drives them to grab their tickets to AO early.

I assume being a GF that a number of members will be bringing along extended family and mates, so the club is banking on 20k odd via the member base alone. Certainly if I was in Adelaide I'd be buying the full allocation.

At the end of the day I guess we'll be watching the PAX numbers along with everyone else.

Price is one consideration in me not going although I might not be going at even half the price for other reasons.

Grand Final ticket prices

Postby EdDog Sat Apr 23, 2016 2:47 pm

It is expensive, however this is the A-League's showcase event and it needs to be priced accordingly.

It is unfortunate that it will price out some fans and a lot of bandwagoners and first timers.

Still, I would imagine the pricing would be similar to the grand finals in the past and they always pulled good numbers.

On the website there are a handful of bays already sold out.

40k would be fantastic.

For comparison, the cheapest AFL Grand Final tickets were $180 in 2012.

Also the cheapest A-League grand final tickets were $50 in 2007. Not much of a price rise in 9 years.

People raise this issue everytime a grandfinal is due to be played yet all grandfinals are filled to capacity.

This would indicate the ticket pricing is on point and imo theres not much room left to argue.

Dont get me wrong, its unfortunate tickets are so pricey particularly for young families but if the game sells out then the market obviously agrees with the pricing and so far ffa have not yet got gf pricing wrong.

Now that's a disparity!
