Doesn't confirm Malik isn't leaving, just that Williams isn't coming here.

Everything is speculation still.

MELBOURNE City’s swap deal with Adelaide United that would have secured defender Osama Malik is off, with David Williams pulling the pin on the deal.

Williams rejected an 18-month deal from United and now looks set to join struggling Newcastle Jets, who are desperate for attacking reinforcements.
While City is keen to offload Williams and free up salary cap space, Adelaide was only prepared to release Malik if they secured a player in return.

Malik, who has been on the Socceroos radar, remains part of coach Guillermo Amor’s plans as United aim to qualify for the 2016 Asian Champions League.

This one seems to have been credible though.

In the end this looks like it fell through because the jets could offer more game time and/or money.

Doesn't matter. Just relieved

Yeah ... and we still need another attacker!
Hopefully Troisi is on the radar. VERY glad we're holding on to Malik though.

I know there was more to it. Its just so funny how often rumours of his develop into nothing.

Yes, just wish me would start a rumour that AU won't win the the League or ACL in the next year or two. :D

That seems to be the style of this club's administration!

Throw a big name out there and pretend we're interested and then get in a recycled A-League player instead.

If we get Troisi I'll eat my hat.

You can be sure that if we are required to pay any transfer fee then there is zero chance of us doing it.

If we had any budget for transfers Josep would still be in charge!

No A-League club pays transfer fees as (as far as I'm aware) it counts towards the cap.

It's why you only ever see A-League clubs sign "free agents".

I agree our club is tight but the bidding war comes down to the wages of the player, not the transfer fee.

I think Victory paid a circa. $400,000 fee for Hernandez years ago.
