Eugene out for six weeks

Had surgery on his knee and will be out for six weeks.

On the upside this is a big chance for Johnny Hall to step up and show he has what it takes to replace the big man himself.

Glad we got rid of izzo now.. johnny hall can get the job done. But were now left in a situation without a known backup keeper.

Either way if john hall can play like he played agaisnt MVFC last friday i reckon were in safe hands.

Positive is that it will allow Hally to play without the pressure of having to perform or be dropped.
On another note what the hell did they do to Euge?!
Time to Djbate!

Time for a little sample of life after Eugene.

Might be a handy reminder that he won't be around forever.

Big loss.

Hall has already faced his hardest test though - the reigning champs, our biggest rival, away from home.

Hopefully the nerves will be settled now.

Time for Peter Blazincic to put the gloves back on just in case :D

I know a lot of our fans don't know his history but he was a hell of a keeper and still looks super fit.

I'm actually looking at this fairly positively. Euge has been a bit off lately (an off euge is still the best keeper in the league) and it was clear he'd been carrying some sort of niggle. Hopefully they'll clean out the knee and he'll be back to his very best upon return.

From the limited games I've seen of hall he is more than capable. This will give him some great exp that he wouldn't have otherwise. Bar the one slip up where he passed to the opposition hall looked really good against what should be one of the best attacks in the league.

Yes I suspect that this surgery wasn't mandatory but considering:
  • 1. Hall had a decent game in one of the tougher matches of the season
    2. It's still early in the season
    3. We would have lost Eugene again in a few weeks for another international weekend
It was worth the calculated risk of getting it done now so he's cherry ripe when it matters most.

I agree, from preseason his kicking wasn't up to usual standard. Can only assume his knee was getting worse.

Good to see Hall back up his game on Friday, invaluable experience for the lad.
We are UNITED, after all....

Begs the question why this wasn't done day one of the off season to allow a full and unimpeded recovery.

Hall has a big chance to impress, there is underage national teams positions available as well, so he has a lot to play for even if it is a short stint.

Hopefully he can continue in the way he played in his first full game and can improve on his weaknesses.
