SA’s premier women’s soccer team Adelaide United’s Lady Reds was saved from extinction at the 11th hour this week.

Nice to hear they are still going to have a side. I can understand Griffin and co's frustration on this issue as the FFA seem very good at telling clubs at almost every level of the game how to spend their money.
But on the other hand as I said with the Gerrard issue. It would be nice to see AU put that money that was planned for Gerrard into making other parts of the club more sustainable.

Good to hear.

The $50k shouldn't have been much issue as AU have been diverting some of the Veolia money to the Lady Reds.

Sounds like a close thing. Thankfully a solution has been found.

Griffin up to his usual tricks. He 'diverted' funds to the Lady Reds because he wanted to take control again as he thought it would help bring in sponsors for AU. Now that its time to pay the bills he cries that its unfair.

Its a good look for the club being in control of the female name sake but I doubt it would bring in that much sponsorship.

Of course it would be a good look but needs to be for the right reasons and an unwavering commitment. Unfortunately thats not what the Chairman sees it as

Football Federation SA has signed Jamie Harnwell as the Westfield W-League Lady Reds Head Coach for the 2015/16
Season.

He coached Perth to the Premiership by 10 pts last season and only left because Perth asked him to re-apply for the position.

Very good pick up!

Glad he's left Perth, every time he did the commentating for fox I'd cringe, almost as bad as listening a nux game's biased commentary.

Worth noting that the Lady Reds' first win in 34 matches was a 1-0 triumph over a Harnwell-coached Perth!

W-league draw out today. The Lady Reds get two curtain raisers before HAL games I think.

After taking a step back from my Lady Reds supporting duties last season, I'm happy to be able to be back supporting them again this season!

I always just wonder how the HAL clubs feel about that. Everyone goes on about the pitch being in pristine condition.
Personally I doubt it would make that much difference.
