I felt there were fewer people standing than some past big games. That was were the shortfall was. Some of those past games it felt like you only had a metre spare to walk along the concourse. I guess that’s the answer, they’ve reduced the number of standing tickets for safety reasons.

I call bullshit on what Marshall is saying - a hopeful vote-grabber.

Looks like the "plan" leaves football at Hindmarsh.

I'm surprised, making the changes to allow us, 2-3 NRL games, maybe a Super Rugby game or two, heck even in the bidding for a Wallabies game, plus WWC I would have thought would stack up.

Disappointing but hardly unexpected. I think doubling the cost of the stadium to accommodate Football would be a pretty big overspend. But I've really got to question the figures in the first place if they are looking at $700m for a 15,000 seater venue. Bankwest in West Syd only cost $360m for build something that holds twice as many people.

Is there anywhere else in the world that has a stadium with a raiseable football pitch as initially mentioned? It would surprise me if this is another election promise that the government never had any intention of carrying thru.

We'll take one of these please, if anything slightly smaller:

Oh and at that cost.

Im plenty happy with himdmarsh as the home of football and this new development will help Adelaide continue growing into the trendy little city that is increasingly becoming known as overseas.

It may see the end of the Adelaide entertainment centre in the future freeing up space that can add to the himdmarsh stadium experience, but who knows.

The Entertainment Centre will be knocked down and the land sold off to developers, so they will become high end, multi storey apartments. Being barely 500m from Coopers Stadium, this will, of course, make them ideal for AUFC fans ....

Only worthwhile if land uses around Hindmarsh are changed too.

Agreed, I think it's the extension The Land of Promise deserves.

Has anyone seen or heard anything about the improvements at Hindmarsh lately? I've looked online, but there are no updates or pictures since last year. The previous government's 'building what matters' website, which covered all the new projects around the state, was taken down when the ALP assumed power.

If someone has found something online on how far along the project is, I'd love to see it.

I wonder if the 3 away games to start the season are an indication of the delay to the stadium being ready?

They're selling memberships in it, so you'd hope they'll have it ready.

Update I saw on LinkedIn, showing the roof at various stages of completion:

cheers .... appreciated!

Pretty sad, though, that it is one of the sub-contractors, not the State Govt nor even the main contractor, which is keeping us informed.

Glad to see some video of it, nonetheless.
