Seeing the Syd and Melb derbies makes me think how awesome it would be having an Adelaide derby.

Would pull a huge crowd.
I remember a few Adelaide City v West Adelaide Hellas derbies back in the NSL days that were pretty awesome.

Yes, especially in the earlier years of the competition.

Just under 15k for first game of the season, that without the RBB travelling at all.

Great crowd. If we can get results we could expect a very healthy average of 12k hopefully

If people want to have a say about getting a new rectangular stadium in Adelaide, The Advertiser is running a survey now with 136 questions about the state.

2 questions were regarding a new rectangular stadium (somewhere in the middle and the very last Q).

Although it probably won't amount to anything, it will be good to get a lot of people voting for it.

Good to see the club sending out an email regarding this!

Communication to members this year has been fantastic.

Answered the questions 17 and 139, only 2 other questions were mandatory, so hopefully a few others will as well.

Done. I'm expecting construction to start soon! :)

I find those questionnaires frustrating. Often both answers to a multiple choice question aren't how I feel.

Yet, less than half (44 per cent) of respondents to the Sunday Mail’s Your Say survey were in favour of a new stadium for United.

Colour me surprised.

If for instance there is another Adelaide a league bid, then a new stadium isn't that much of a stretch.

There will be 2 tenants of the new facility, plus concerts and shows. And if it is in the city, it will bring people and commerce to the CBD.

Hi welcome.
That's true although the important aspect of that is that the tenants are viable. If another Adelaide club exists (which would be wonderful) it's not going to help the push for a new stadium if their match days lose money.

Thanks for the welcome.

Yes, too many A league teams are paying huge rent. It would have to be viable.

SOUTH Australia’s premier soccer club cannot grow without a new city stadium situated nearby Adelaide Oval, according to Adelaide United chairman Greg Griffin.

More discussion on a new stadium for AU.

I also notice Sydney Roosters are playing in Adelaide next NRL season. Sadly the game will be at AO.
It'll be interesting to see what sort of crowd they get for it.
I find it crazy AEC aren't gunning for NRL games at Hindmarsh.

I honestly can't ever see this happening.

Two A-league clubs would make it more plausible on paper, but we'll also have relegation at some point and could end up with 1 team using it.

If NRL is happy at Adel Oval that's done. Wallabies would be the same. And if Liverpool and clubs of that size can sell out Adel Oval, why have a smaller venue?

The commercial imperatives and agendas really have to work for a new stadium and I don't see the population or demand to make it a reality.

I'd be happy with Hindmarsh bumped up to 20-25k.
