From what I remember that fell through because the synthetic pitch was hard as rock, and Australian pitches are hard enough.Don't forget Adelaide Shores
But the base at Ridley reserve will have 4 pitches, 3 grass and 1 synthetic I believe.

It was suppose to be a full facility not just 1 synthetic pitch. From what I remember that fell through because the synthetic pitch was hard as rock, and Australian pitches are hard enough.Don't forget Adelaide Shores

Well yeah...but the issue the club had with that place was with that pitch. We already get enough soft tissue injuries ahaIt was supposed to be a full facility not just 1 synthetic pitch. From what I remember that fell through because the synthetic pitch was hard as rock, and Australian pitches are hard enough.Don't forget Adelaide Shores

Was also that the other pitches werent up to scratch. Open plan area and used by other organisations chopped them. Hopefully Playford will be exclusive

Re: New rectangular stadium in Adelaide?
Hopefully our lease agreement at least gives us one pitch exclusively to be used by Adelaide United. In their plan they do mention the need for areas to play touch football and rugby. But with 4 pitches, heres hoping supply will meet demand without having rugby tear up all the pitches. Was also that the other pitches werent up to scratch. Re: New rectangular stadium in Adelaide?
It would take some work with the local councils, but holden street could go down to a single laneway for local residents only allowing them to build onto the road. It can be done.3) all park lands around the city are not to be touched leaving no area for a new stadium.
We can only hope for an upgrade of hindmarsh which is very restricted due to limited land to build up on. For example the northern side can't have the corners filled and that why the western stand doesn't go all the way.

As part of the south road upgrade they haven't done anything to divert the Grange Road traffic. In fact due to the cost of moving the substation on the corner of Port and South Rds, you won't even be able to turn right from South Rd onto Port Rd any more.It would take some work with the local councils, but holden street could go down to a single laneway for local residents only allowing them to build onto the road. I do agree that's what they should do though. We have two large entertainment venues in close proximity and a new high density living precinct not more than a few hundred metres away. It makes sense to turn that into a full blown entertainment precinct with cafe's, bars and restaurants.

Re: New rectangular stadium in Adelaide?
The government will never get a new stadium built here for soccer. its as simple as that... It was hard enough for them to get the half a billion dollar adelaide oval revamp.
the only option is to expand Hindmarsh & cover the stands.
Even manton street could go down to 1 lane each way with cafe's and other business' around.

I disagree, now that the AEC is in charge a number of in roads have clearly been made. Naming rights, new seating, change room upgrades, improved food outlets, eftpos at all outlets and now a viable business model is in place. If an upgrade is viable I believe the AEC have to common sense to push for it. They are working smartly with AUFC now it seems so I really think it has turned a corner. The government will never get a new stadium built here for soccer. its as simple as that... Re: New rectangular stadium in Adelaide?
i said that they would revamp hindmarsh,
why would the AEC push to have a new stadium built elsewhere?

Has the AEC announced any latest news on any possible upgrades to Hindmarsh?

Re: New rectangular stadium in Adelaide?
Not as yet. We only know what we know, because Petrillo was asked about crowds and our stadium. But its a good indicator that the club and the AEC are hashing out some possible plans.Has the AEC announced any latest news on any possible upgrades to Hindmarsh?
They also might be waiting to the end of the season to announce anything.
