Adelaide chairman Greg Griffin is investigating the right for the Reds to participate in the 2015 competition which could see the 2008 Champions League finalist play in its fifth international club competition.

Griffin has a point. I find it a little arrogant of FFA that they think it's up to them who plays in tournament they don't organise.
They can harp on all they like that finals matter. But the AFC are showing they don't.

Think the FFA would rather Adelaide represent Australia this year.

3 of the bottom 4 teams in the league currently will be playing ACL.

Sounds like it might be a win for everyone if AU make it.

Who knows there could be a 3 way agreement with rick charlesworth at the mariners, ffa and aufc to put on a bit of a puppet show ending in aufc taking qualification for acl.

Charelsworth has previously considered pulling his club from the acl due to financial demands so its possibly not out of the question

I wouldn't rule it out.

Our third place finish in 2010-11 was never awarded ACL qualification at first - but later it was. Then the position stripped again.

Football is a strange game. If Qatar can get a World Cup, then we can pinch a back door to ACL.

Feels strange to say this as I love the ACL but I'd rather we focused on the league.

I like to think of Adelaide as sort of ACL specialists (also, the more football the better) so I would be thrilled if we managed to wangle our way into this comp somehow.

Josep got Kitchee out of the group stage in i am correct. Quite an amazing result really.

Imagine what he could achieve with us, all while playing real football and not 451 variations that we and WSW have in past success.

I think it would force AU to delve into the NYL squad. Which IMO a number of which are up to getting HAL game time.

Val Alert!

I love Val's last line which is purely a far fetched rumour! #Valalert=twatalert

It would be great for us to play in the ACL.

I know, feels like we won't be properly prepared and is therefore a bit of a risk. I really want to see Hugene lifting this up
