What if, after we are (socceroos) embarrassed in the Asian cup the FFA approached Gombau to take the helm of the national team?
Personally I don't see why that would happen. Why bring in a coach to bring the Socceroos into a new era then get rid of him when everyone loses patience only to replace him with someone who's most likely going to do the same thing?
But isn't that whats happening now? I think we will have a horrid cup and when that does the pressure will be well and truely on. IMO Gombau looks a far more superior coach to Postacoglou.. Wouldn't we be better off with a better coach? Especially if he's sitting right under the FFA's nose.
I wouldn't say that just yet. Ange has won trophies. JG hasn't even won a finals series match.

I just don't see the point in tossing out Ange because we've embarrased ourselves in the Cup when it was the previous 3 and a half years of inaction from Holger and FFA that got us there. Ange is the clean up crew. This mess will take longer then 10 games to clean up!

Give him time and Gombau will eclipse Postacoglou's records. Yes id have to agree though it would be a little pre mature but that's what people were saying about Mulvey.. Gumby stays with us till 2017 and we have to build a new trophy cabinet because the original one is full, and IF the roos are still struggling surly then ange has had enough time.
I didn't bring up this point to argue it just came up at the pub and wanted thoughts from you guys on here.

We are 7 games into the season and now it's Gombau for the Socceroos. Please.

Talk to me after we have won the FFA Cup, Premier's Plate and Toilet Seat.

I dont think Josep will jump ship to go to Asia. I think he would prefer to stay here and have sustained success then move to Europe. If he goes to Japan its another 2-4 year process depending on how quickly the players adapt to his style.
If he can win us the league then back it up next year he will land a decent gig in Europe

I agree with this. Although a gig in Japan setting up and after a year or so, achieving similar success, is a quicker way to add another entry to a CV.

Wtf kind of article was this?
http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/foo ... 7137372119

"Common ground with the worlds greatest"
"Most players enjoy his style"
"But The Advertiser has never seen Gombau try a free kick or demonstrate how to curve a ball or show his players any other tricks of the technical football trade,"
"Propaganda his agent cant muster"

Val's latest thing appears to be to praise Josep to get us to read but with a subtext of derision. We all stopped reacting to it towards the end of the season and I think we should again...

One thing I really respect about Gombau is that he is not shoehorning Sanchez (as one of 'his' signings) into the first team. When Bruce and Carrusca are fit, Pablo is starting on the bench. And now he's starting to really show his worth to the team - and might make his way into the starting XI on merit anyway.
All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

Wish he was a more clinical finisher but apart from that, I can't really fault Pablo and his versatility (a bit like Cirio) as an attacker is something we have called upon quite a few times this year. Hope he and Jeggo continue on this trajectory of improvement :)
