Maybe if Val didn't continually fill his columns with negative crap about united the crowds wouldn't be so bad, though crowds for the ACL in Korea and Japan are often woeful as well.

Yeah looking historically. ACL crowds are generally half-ish HAL crowds.

Val rips into aufc for the crowd claiming that the 50k at the grandfinal should have been at this game.. calm down buddy! Then has a good try at being an appologist for west and city and their demise from the NSL with poor support.

I was a little shocked he didnt manage a Gombau jibe and claim AUFC is snubbing the latest Italian has been who is playing in the NPL.

Of course. I think the worse his articles are the more coverage he gets. He might actually love AU but every time he writes a nice article about them no one reads it! :D

Just saw a twitter link to an article he's written on Baba but it was behind a pay wall.
Advertiser has the wrong bloke I'm afraid if they're hoping to get any subscriptions on the back of his quality 'journalism'.
Works both ways.

I've noticed that he has a habit for starting half of his sentences and paragraphs with 'but'. Ticks me off.

The man is borderline illiterate.

But there is no rule in grammar that states you can't start a sentence with a conjunction.

And sometimes it's appropriate.
But it's also ugly.
Or maybe I just don't like it because my teachers told me it was bad.

That is the way journalism sometimes works. Often it's written as if it's spoken. Not necessarily grammatically correct but fairly standard.

Plenty of times I've seen spelling mistakes in Val's articles. I think no one edits his articles aha.

It's not just that though .. his sentences tie themselves in knots. He makes a simple match report into a convoluted nightmare.
Elrich put Berisha off when his last gasp tackle took the ball off the Albanian’s boot on the edge of the box before Eugene Galekovic picked off the crumbs.

But Victory’s lead was hardly deserved as Adelaide squandered a number of chances before the game again slipped away.

Sergi Guardiola shooting wide in the 10th minute before Sergio Cirio did all the good work after stealing the ball from the halfway line but missed the target from 18m in the 13th minute showed United lacked heaps of confidence with bottom place no coincidence.
I agree with View From The Top, the guy just can't write. I have no idea how he got to where he is as a journalist.

Yeah I can't help but feel that way. Its one of the reasons why I wouldn't pick up a Tiser to wipe my backside.
