Match Day! my favourite day of the week, usually followed by 'forget the day before' day when I'm deflated from a poor performance. hopefully this week will be different.

Finally back at Hindmarsh playing the match we should have played in R2 for the 10 Year Anniversary. Not going to make any tips for tonight. Expecting a relatively free flowing game with some end to end moments. We'll bag at least one but will realistically need at least three to overcome Roar.

Tonight's game will be a real test - not of if we've improved or not in possession-opposition possession transition - but of how we actually shape defensiely up when the opponent maintains possession for large periods of time.
Other teams haven't been able to grasp real possession against us because A) 65% of the time we have the ball and B ) the rare occastions we have had time to settle defensively we've pressed we'll and won it back quickly (with the expecting of the first 20 minutes of the second half last week).
United's big problem is that right now we don't know how to get our defensive shape and press at the same time. Meaning that the players prone to pressing once they turn over the ball press passes into unmarked players who should be covered by somebody who is too conflicted about weather they should get back into the shape or press (instead of doing both). The latter type of player, when the turn over the ball, gives the opposition too much time to play a forward pass.
Tonight's game will be a strange one.
I'm picking Brisbane to win 2-1, with 2 goals scored by our centre halves turning the ball over deep in possession to Berisha.

Why?Finally back at Hindmarsh playing the match we should have played in R2 for the 10 Year Anniversary.
Brisbane Roar and Brisbane Strikers are completely different clubs... and given that Strikers weren't an option, Melbourne was absolutely the right fixture for our 10 year anniversary.
Anyway.
We're gon' win tonight. I feel it in me waters.
All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.
