The FFA announced something on the twittertronics about it returning back to 2.5 this year.

Fantastic news!

Although - "...this development means that the two automatic spots for 2014 will go to the premier and the champion, while the team finishing second in the regular season will qualify for a playoff."

So I'm guessing only third spot gets the half a chance if first and second win one each of the premiership and the finals series?

We'd better hope that's the case then! Surely it's gotta be written in the stars: ACL in 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012...2014?

In addition to my post. If first place wins both then second would get the other spot and third the half chance.

So we want CCM or WSW to win the championship (if not for us) and for us to finish third to be safe.
