We just signed Ben Halloran apparently.

Good signing, really completes the squad and gives us plenty of good cover across the board. Now just need to keep Baba fit and we look really strong.

Very pacey player, but average at best.
He was part of the Roos 2014 squad, offered little.

Wonder how bad that injury is to Mileusnic?

Average at best? Really?

He had a relatively succesfull stint in the bundesliga second division which is well abd truly above aleague quality, halloran was a dangerous player as a youth before he left for europe.

I would have preferred mabil, however halloran is a fantastic signing. On paper this is arguably our strongest 11. Although it remains to be seen how they play together and adapt to each others game.

I would say mileusenic when fit has been bumped out of the match day squad in favour of kitto on the bench.

Looks like our squad is finalised unless we move baba on

From what I have seen of him for the Roos, he has been average.

You are right though, his stats at Fortuna Düsseldorf look quite good, 8 goals in 37 apps.
He has played a lot of games in 2. Buli
Hasn't featured much in Japan, hopefully he comes here with the right attitude, hitting his peak at 26 yo.

If he can work his way into his best form he will be a very very good HAL level player.

Great signing!

How about the ambition shown by these owners? Wow!

They've gone with the "if we bring in the players and win games, the crowds come" theory rather than trying to do the best with a threadbare side.

I agree

The old aufc would have enquired about jakobsen , goodwin and halloran then cried to the media players dont want to play here.

Given both ownership group have operated within the cap i can only speculate the old ownership group may have offered little to no “outside cap “ benefits like relocation costs, apartments, cars, business opportunities etc.

We may not have any true marquee level stars but we arguably are strong in every position.

If this group of players “buy in” and play for each other we could have a very good season.

A point of issue is goodwin, elsey and halloran may be in line for socceroos selection for the asian cup although unlikely.

Izzo
Marrone-Elsey-Jakobsen-Galloway
Isa-Ilso-Boland
Halloran-Baba-Goody

People fighting for a spot:
Kitto
Regan
Konst
Mileu
Strain
Lia
Blackwood

What a starting 11 and what depth!!!

Wouldn't mind another striker because I can't see Baba staying fit but wow.

On writing this I reckon we might see Ilso play striker a bit this season with Konst or Lia in mid.

Yeah thats a fair point on ilso.

I think his quality and ability to adapt to the league could be the difference come seasons end.

There are still question marks given the leagues he has recently played in.

If Halloran is as good a player as he was when he left the HAL then its a very good signing. If he's impoved since leaving (which I expect he has) he's an even better signing. If this signing takes place I can't recall an AU squad with more on paper depth than this.

Surely Halloran has improved since leaving. He was the only good thing to come out of Gold Coast United. I wouldn't be judging him on his appearances for the Socceroos. Very good signing if true.

His career stats on wiki seems pretty solid for Bundesliga 2. His career just seems to have floundered a bit last season which is presumably why he's coming back to the HAL. At 26 I doubt he's lost much of his pace unless there has been some serious injury we've not heard about. According to wiki he's an AU player already!

He didn't do much with V-Varen Nagasaki.

No other rumour on halloran and no playful hints from the club .

Nothing is certain yet.

It is a Goal.com story after all.

Normally the club would have done something by now, a playful hint as you say. Old mate Val hasn't even mentioned it.
