Kurz says he wants reinforcements abd that its basically up to the club to make it happen.

Welcome to AUFC Marco! Both Amor and Gombau were cut at the knees from the same issue.

Apparently we are close to a signing in germany from the same management as danial adlung

What he said ^^^
The club is, according to Kovacevic, very close to securing a target.

A little excited. Hopefully something comes of it.

Had a few brief looks at transfermarkt.com but couldn't find who it is. Any other takers?

Dennis Grote? The info on transfermarkt showed a bunch of other really old players. There was a striker but he is out injured with an acl.

LW/CM btw.

On the Adelaide Now website, a chap has posted and asking if it is Alexander Merkel from VFL Bochum in Bundesliga 2.

Grote, Merkel and Exslager are the three I boiled it down to.

Exslager is recovering from a torn ACL.

Speaking of signings, we still don't have a CEO. I recall that being advertised before the season started, so hopefully we aren't working on making signings in August!
Merkel was rumoured before Matmour, so could be a chance but it's anyone's guess

I've had a quick look through Kicker but there is nothing there.

Given the state of Diawara and Abonlonsen you'd have to assume it's the bloke that has done his ACL..... HA!

Grote is the most likely but I just don't see the need for another CM. Isais is best in class, Audlung is good but would clearly prefer to play Isais' role, Konsta is struggling but is a young local product that has shown glimpses, same with O'Doherty. Strain has also shown he is a very capable young CM.

Surely a No.10, striker or even a creative winger are the priorities? Goals, we need goals.

Sydney want Warland. Club said no.
The club are also looking for a European based attacker who is a free agent.

Club is 'looking'? That should have been looked and found by now. Very poor.

I agree. Serious questions need to be asked of the club and whoever does the recruitment

I think that "Is looking" is a "figure of speech." Didn't Ante say that they were "very close to securing a target?" The words,"Courting an European attacker" have also been used. I think that what they were trying to say is that United HAVE been looking for an European based attacker who is a free agent.

Reading an article on Aussies who need a move to enhance their World Cup Finals selection, I saw the name Ajdin Hrustic. This lad is out of favour with his Dutch club Groningen. He played for the Australian Under 23's in a more central (Attacking midfielder) role than he normally does. They describe him as a winger, but I was impressed with his technical ability and how he played in the more central role. He is very impressive on the ball. Adelaide United should go for the 21 year old and just get him on loan. He gets regular game time and we get a top class player who has been in senior Socceroo squads. I am suggesting this as a last ditch attempt to replace Matmour if the German based player deal does not come off.
