Bernardo has been released to join another A-League club.

Disappointing but not surprising.

Fall out from the Nestor to Bayern deal. No way should Nestor be starting in front of him on current form, but it's probably a stipulation in the deal to keep him here until the end of the season that he starts in the majority of games.

No win situation for the club really. Other than pocketing the cash obviously.

Hurts that little bit more being Cassio's boy :(

This falls into the 'crazy' category. I wondered why he wasn't in the last squad and why he hasn't been playing. I'm not at all sure we're blessed with better options.

Nooooo!

Exactly because it's Cassio's lad we should have tried harder to keep him.
He has the quality and potential.

FckBayern.

I thought there were now transfer fees or loans allowed between clubs?

If so why are we still terminating player contracts?

This was announced years ago but never ended up happening. It's ridiculous.

Loans are happening between clubs and have been for some time. Initially it was just U23 players that could be loaned but now anyone can be loaned.

They're terminating contracts because players aren't happy and are asking to leave. The club's philosophy is they'd rather let them go for free than have someone toxic in the changeroom. Probably also good messaging to players when we're trying to sign someone on the cheap.

I stand corrected, but loans are so underused.

Oliver Bozanic has been on loan to Perth from WSW.

The loans came in when Sydney FC wanted Danny De Silva badly from CCM but they refused to release him. It came in at a rush to benefit Sydney FC at the beginning of their golden child era. Much like the Archie Thompson rule they brought in very suddenly that you could pay a player outside the cap if they had been at the club for a certain length of time so MV could bring in whatever player they wanted to at the time.

Former Victory chairman Anthony Di Pietro once said to our former CEO Glenn Elliot, 'There are two salary caps. One for us, and one for you.'

We are Leicester City. Girona etc. No one really wants us to win. Sydney, Victory, Wanderers, City. In that order. That’s what they want.

You mean we aren't a south eastern city in what is presented as a National league?

Understand that Adelaide United and Olyroos centre-back Alex Popović (2002) has been the subject of overseas interest in recent weeks, with Adelaide rejecting a bid from K-League side Gwangju.

Wow! He had a blip earlier in the season, but since then he’s been a rock at the back, whoever he’s been partnered with. Good young player with a LOT of upside.
My only question is whether he could get a move to Europe rather than Asia if he stayed with us another year.
