Re: Who's signed for next season
It's a huge fee for any A-League export. AU didn't want to let him go, but the potential to set up his family for several years into the future was too persuasive an argument.
I'm confident we'll see him return - my tip is he'll play his two years, then finish his career with a final full season at Hindmarsh.

Re: Who's signed for next season
I was going to suggest we just sign Danny Choi for the next few seasons as our +1 but seems he has gone to the Portuguese 4th Division. Good on him, hope it offers the springboard he deserves.
Also, we should look at getting Jedinak in if he is released by Villa. He's one man that would replace Isaias as a leader and defensive marshal on the pitch / deadball specialist and all round nice guy.

"The ball is round, the game lasts 90 minutes, that's a fact. Everything else is pure theory."

$1m for a player of his age is very good, though we know he is irreplaceable.
Inman is now on a free and is a likely replacement.
McGree could do the job but is back in Brugge.

Re: Who's signed for next season
It hard to say who would be a good replacement for isaias without knowing exactly how verbeek wants to play.
Isaias was much more a deep playmaker than he was a totally defensive Holding midfielder. Much more like a busquets or Pirlo.
We could easily find good aussie holding mids but an isaias styled player would need to be a visa player.
It would probably be easier to sign a visa striker and 10 , while employing a more defensive aussie dm that will not be initiating attacks, I think malik would be a good fit as his defensive abilities are high.

Do we really want to be 26y.o Brillante's 4th A-League club?
He's a great player but we need a point of difference.

Yeah I'd have him at the club absolutely.Do we really want to be 26y.o Brillante's 4th A-League club?

You're not gonna find too many players like Isa with our budget, so it might be time to find creativity elsewhere than the DM.

Re: Who's signed for next season
I don't disagree that Brillante is a good footballer and would slot in well but probably 9 or 10 other clubs agree, and he's already shown he's not fussed with sticking around.
We can't go toe to toe with other ckubs recruiting this kind of guy, we have to be different.
We won the league with shrewd imports, rising youth and SA lads returning home, Brillante is none of those things.

I like it, but it's just words.
We spent more last year than we ever did before too.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Vidosic has left City after accepting an overseas offer apparently. Im only mentioning it here because someone mentioned him above as a potential australian player we could look at.
