He will be playing for a contract, hope Gertjan doesn't just give him one because Piet wants him to.

I might be forgetting someone but don't we only have 2 visa players on our books at the moment?

Yes we have 3 visa spots available but the suggestion is that 1 of those spots is going to a Chinese player so we'll only have 2 left.I might be forgetting someone but don't we only have 2 visa players on our books at the moment?
Surely any visa player we sign will be a starting player otherwise it's a waste, especially with a new team this season and then another next, there will be a 'shortage' of known Aussie players.

Do we have a +1 rule for Asian players or is that just for the ACL ??Yes we have 3 visa spots available but the suggestion is that 1 of those spots is going to a Chinese player so we'll only have 2 left.I might be forgetting someone but don't we only have 2 visa players on our books at the moment?

Re: RE: Re: Who's signed for next season
OK yeah it's possible but I'm still skeptical that we will use a visa spot for a chinese player this season. Qingdao Red Lions are in the third tier over there and are much closer to the relegation zone than promotion. Perhaps if they were comfortable in that league or higher, then they might want to try sending some of their best players for match experience in a higher quality league to help them go to the next level. Sending players unable to break into a relegation challenged team seems like a waste of everyone's time. Sending junior players over to get experience training with higher calibre players seems likely.Yes we have 3 visa spots available but the suggestion is that 1 of those spots is going to a Chinese player so we'll only have 2 left.I might be forgetting someone but don't we only have 2 visa players on our books at the moment?

Re: Who's signed for next season
Recalling what the owners were on about with wanting to find "Chinese Messi" - I'm guessing well get a young CM/CAM/ST who's shown some potential back home. Get him training with the first team and then they'll throw him in the deep end. If he swims, they can on sell him to the next level up, if not then they try again.....
I'm still hoping Issy is staying and this whole thing is a bad dream.

Isaias leaving is officially confirmed.
Not sure if we got a transfer fee for him, a buy-out clause was triggered or if he was released for free.

He was contracted and required, I'd be livid if they didn't get a fee.

Reasonable figure, however he was more valuable than that to our club IMO.Rumour is that we got $1 million. He was contracted and required, I'd be livid if they didn't get a fee.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Im on the fence about signing a qingdao player every season and ill probably reserve my judgement for 3 or so years.
Clubs have historically done well from having a 5th visa player wild card that is a bit of a risk but also comes cheap and offers much potential.
I dont mind this at all and we could probably get around the cap and only have then listed on a minimum salary given qingdao would pay them in china.
The concern is how much are these young qingdao kids development prioritised over the other members of the squad or worse is their development more important than the team?
If we take a sink or swim approach with them then fine, i would imagine some would fail spectaularly others may be absolute standouts. However i can see AUFC faithful turnining on one of these young kids if they get a sniff of it being a “coaches golden son” type scenario

A million for an aleague midfielder in his mid thrties is HUGE.Rumour is that we got $1 million. He was contracted and required, I'd be livid if they didn't get a fee.
Putting the heart aside for one moment, thats a nice bit of business if the number is correct
