Really happy with Brook returning, let's hope he makes a mark.
As an aside, do we (as in Piet) can any trickle down from the McGree transfer?

Re: Who's signed for next season
If there is, it will be loose change only - 5 figures at most (not 6). The biggest winner will be Riley himself; and good luck to him, because he is a genuine talent and deserves to succeed.
There are plenty of kids who go to Europe with stars in their eyes and then fail, because while they might be the best player in their hometown amateurs, so are all the other hopefuls training and testing alongside them. So 4/5ths of the kids who try out in Europe are not good enough to earn fulltime professional contracts, get disilluisoned and come home. Riley McGree IS good enough, though and will be a professional in Europe for the next decade.

Bit more to play here.
Sounds like personal terms weren't agreed at Celtic and now Middlesbrough are in the mix offering £5m for McGree!

.... meaning that if it comes off at Boro, Riley will receive a £500,000 pay day, plus whatever weekly and match earnings that he can negotiate. AUFC should be in for a £50,000 wedge.
Nice for all, if it comes off.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Good to see Brook and this guy are already here before they get announced
Re: Who's signed for next season
I've got low expectations for this bloke but he comes from a good team in a good league (better than ours) and is at a good age.
AU has been the catalyst for so many struggling players to reignite their careers.
Hopefully Hiroshi can be another success story.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Hiro confirmed for the rest of the season.
Expectations will be high but let's just all remember that he only has to be better than Blackwood which shouldn't be a big task.

Re: Who's signed for next season
Let's hope that he can adjust to the pace and physicality of the A-League, BP. Japanese players seem to hang back from tackles, when they play here or against Australian sides. It took Shinji Ono at least 2 seasons with the Wallys for him to really get stuck into tackles, instead of just relying on his slick foot skills (which were exceptional).

Re: Who's signed for next season
I'm sure everyone will give him a chance to get up to speed and not expect instant success and judge him only on his first couple of performances...
*cough* Sergi Guardiola *cough*
(Plus many many more examples, but none went on to be a starter in la liga)

Interesting. I have very low expectations. Will be surprised if he scores in his stint with us.Hiro confirmed for the rest of the season.

I wish him all the best and dearly hope I'm wrong however.

Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: Who's signed for next season
Expectations from the general fanbase I meant. They'll expect goals from a striker instantly, look how Juric copped it last season on social media and at the ground.Interesting. I have very low expectations. Will be surprised if he scores in his stint with us.Hiro confirmed for the rest of the season.
