Re: Who's signed for next season
Read a Tweet from Val that mentioned Ochieng, O'Doherty and Garruccio also unlikely to be back next season.
Re: Who's signed for next season
Iniesta would be a great pickup for us
Then I wake up and realise no doubt FFA and Sydney will work together. Looking forward to the Iniesta clause and FFA subsidy...then his non appearance in Adelaide “due to soft tissue Injury”

Re: Who's signed for next season
If clubs want to chase iniesta , fantastic!
However im very opposed to ffa chipping in.
How is it accepted that the leagues governing body can also finance the biggest players in the league for a big club all while enforcing a salary cap.
How can a ref be partial to his employers 3million investment on the pitch ?
What lasting effect did ADP have on the league? None!
Imagine if the 3 millions was spent on subsidising smaller clubs family tickets , womens football etc.
Is it any surprise SFCs owner is a Russian artistocrat ?

if only every single one of our existing links to Spain/Catalunya/Barca (aside from Isaias) hadn't been cast aside... I would love Iniesta in the league, and having him at AU would be the greatest thing ever.
But I'd be completely against the FFA dusting off the Cahill Rule or something similar to bring him in.

Re: Who's signed for next season
I can understand Iniesta going for Sydney. If he is after a combo of lifestyle and football then it would be the obvious choice. Sydney also have Champions League as a bonus.
What I object to is FFA funding it and giving extra concessions to Sydney but it’s unavoidable if it happens. If Iniesta is serious FFA will splash the cash for SFC. But Iniesta should not be an additional player above their marquee signings. And a previous poster is right...it would cause a conflict of interest for any ref who would be pressured to safeguard FFAs player

Re: Who's signed for next season
I cant comprehend that the FFA will help fund a player for one club but not another, I mean how is that unbiased, impartial etc etc and all the things that you would expect the people running the league to be?
The only way to do this is to give say a million to each and all clubs for a marquee, any other way is just favouratism.
It will only paper over the cracks for a short while any way, league needs more than marquees. It needs some people with some bloody idea running the show for a start.

Re: Who's signed for next season
If the man wants to come down and play in Oz then fair enough but I don't agree with the FFA paying for him to play.
What are they going to do, share him out between the clubs over the course of the season?
I'd rather they spent the money on youth, women's football and getting their house in order.

I bet wsw are regretting the sacking of gambou. He might be he most sought after coach if his Spanish links help bring Iniesta over.

All the more reason why he could replace Arnold at Sydney FC. That would hurt.I bet wsw are regretting the sacking of gambou. He might be he most sought after coach if his Spanish links help bring Iniesta over.

Up to the clubs to win over the FFA for why Iniesta should play for them. If his wages are $3m there's nothing stopping Adelaide offering to pay $500k towards it if he comes here. Make someone else outbid us.

They can have Iniesta.
Our shopping list ought to look like:
- Goodwin
- Foreign No10
- Djite/Striker
- Retain Garruccio
- Retain O'Doherty
- Retain Gulum or replace with Jakobsen
Should at least be making inquiries about: McGree, McGowanX2, Inman, Borrello, Bozanic,
