Re: Who's signed for next season
The club just posted a graphic on twitter with all of our previous #8’s. I assume that’s going to be his new number.

Potentially counts as a "homegrown" player and would not count towards the cap. Although I'm not sure if that includes loan deals. He was contracted with Club Brugge until 2021.

Wundabar!Riley McGree is returning to AUFC!
We are pushing along with the South Australian theme which I simply love.
Incidentally the discussions on defensive mids made me check up on the Mustang and he's currently in a coaching role with Qingdao Red Lions.

I was a little disappointed we missed out on McGowanx2 and Inman.Wundabar!Riley McGree is returning to AUFC!

But boy does this signing make up for it!!!!
Every time I saw him play at City he was special and often it was from the bench.
He's a wonderful footballer and the closest thing I can think of for covering Isa.
Well done, United.

Re: Who's signed for next season
I feel like as it currently stands Boland and McGree would likely be playing more or less alongside one another with someone else sitting in front.
Neither Boland nor McGree are 'anchors' in the same sense that Isaias is, but Boland did well playing deep especially at the start of the season.

All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

Apparently AU splashed the cash on McGree, paying a transfer fee to buy him from Club Brugge.

I'll hold my breath on that though, because payment of a transfer fee in the A-League counts towards that player's impact on the salary cap.

Unless he is a marquee which isnt totally out of the question although unlikelyI'll hold my breath on that though, because payment of a transfer fee in the A-League counts towards that player's impact on the salary cap.

Re: Who's signed for next season
McGree is a tad more creative than Isa I reckon. Boland is more box to box.
McGree could anchor midfield as the 'deep-lying playmaker', however I think I'd rather see us sign another DM to play that role.
Lia should not be a starter this season.
If we don't sign any more midfielders it will have to be a midfield of Konsta, Boland and McGree and I just don't think that is quite good enough to challenge
Great signing nonetheless. A very, very tidy player.

Confirmed by the club on Tiwtter - 3 year deal and we bought him!
"Being picked-up by a European club like Brugge at 18 says a lot about him as a footballer, but for us to be willing and able to pay a transfer fee for him and successfully bring him back to South Australia is a strong statement from the club. It also demonstrates our intent this season."

Ill be interested to know if he is a marquee, home grown exempted player or if he is in the cap.
It looks like we will be playing with 2 box to box mids and a 10 rather than a Dm pulling all the strings.
Credit to the club! They have put some of the isaias money back into the squad.

Re: Who's signed for next season
One would also assume if we are paying a transfer fee and giving him a 3 year deal there is an expected ROI on him, so his buy out clause should be quite high.

Re: Who's signed for next season
That confirms the transfer fee. No doubt it will pay for itself when he does well and moves on again in future.
