That's true. But cementing a place in a competitive squad earns more respect than having to compete with a couple of NYL players for your position at AU.Surely playing time is a draw card too. He would be a starter at AU but possibly fighting for a position or coming off the bench in Melb or Syd.

I don't think Mauk was ever in our NYL setup. I remember he, Melling, Teeboy and Izzo were all at the AIS at one point together, and he got snapped up by Heart and we grabbed Teeboy, Melling and Izzo. I think Jake Monaco was part of that group too now that I think about it.It's a two way street though. AU turned their back on him when he was in the NYL side. It wasn't till he begun starring for City that they wanted to sign him.If AUFC made an offer on comparable $$ to MV and he chose them i'd be very dissapointed in Mauk tbh.
He's a local boy turning his back on his local club that he recently won a championship with and gave him a springboard into a crack at Europe. Bit of a dog act imo if thats what happened.

Re: Who's signed for next season
I really don't think mauk owes us anything.
He was here for half a season, the manager who signed him is not here and he was an integral part in our end of season run to win the premiership and the championship.
I would say mauk has more than paid any perceived debt to aufc.
In saying that I really hope adelaide is his first choice but not every south Australian feels the appeal of playing for us , take troisi for example, and that's totally ok just disappointing on the fans end

Re: Who's signed for next season
At this stage I just want the club to sign some players and then I will support them. If one of them is Mauk then good, if not it will be somebody else.
It will probably be the three VISA players who make the difference and I will never have heard of them anyway.

Rather than any actual advantages to going to MV (once again money aside I think this is way overplayed), in his own mind coming back to AU would be an indisputable step back. At least going to a different club he probably thinks he's progressing (even though he really isn't).

I expect he will stay in Europe.

Neither Melbourne club has a history of not paying their players. Maybe that's a concern for him.Rather than any actual advantages to going to MV (once again money aside I think this is way overplayed), in his own mind coming back to AU would be an indisputable step back. I think you're right. I can't find that he played for AU NYL. I think he trialled and didn't make the squad.I don't think Mauk was ever in our NYL setup. I remember he, Melling, Teeboy and Izzo were all at the AIS at one point together, and he got snapped up by Heart and we grabbed Teeboy, Melling and Izzo. Would anyone take Vidosic? Just been released from his Korean club.

Lazy, injury prone and shows moments of quality.Would anyone take Vidosic? Just been released from his Korean club.
Probably as good as we can hope for.

Nope but Victory do have a history of treating out of favour players badly.Neither Melbourne club has a history of not paying their players. My point isn't that we're not bad, it's that they're not that brilliant either and on the football department side of things the gap isn't huge.
Administration wise it's a different story of course.
