Disappointing for him but could be a get out for the club if he is indeed out for the remainder of his contract and insurance covers it. Would we really have to wait until January though? We'd only be looking at free agents.BABA Diawara’s wretched luck continues as his frustrating injury run is about to be further assessed by Adelaide United medicos.
Surgery is one of the likely options available for the Senegalese striker.
Club officials said Baba may now be suffering from a damaged meniscus.
Adelaide may have permission to sign an injury replacement striker during the FIFA January transfer window if Baba is ruled out long term.

Re: Who's signed for next season
yeah wtf- why would we have to wait half the season to sign an injury replacement?
All I need is some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.

Unfortunate that Baba's injured again but at least we're getting a replacement and there are a few good free agents available.

As well as the players Salmon and I mentioned the other day, here's some more decent ones that would be semi-realistic signings.
Paulo Henrique
Zé Love
Braian Rodriquez
Tulio de Melo
Jay Emmanuel-Thomas
Emre Gural
Edit: Another player to add
Modibo Maiga

Ah right. Yeah I wouldn't take Jeronimo but I would take Dzengis as an absolute last resort.I know, what I'm saying is I wouldn't be bringing either of them back here. There's two former Reds on the list.Quite a few familiar ones, not sure any former Reds fit the bill though.Unfortunate that Baba's injured again but at least we're getting a replacement and there are a few good free agents available.

Re: Who's signed for next season
May be best for everyone if we can move baba off the playing list and let the insurance conpanies handle it.
I think there are probably a bunch of strikers in europe Kurz is aware of who are contracted but have no prospects of game time and both club and player are looking to terminate the contract if other options are available.

No my point was there are probably contracted strikers out there who have been given their clubs blessing to leave. There probably contracted players in Europe that Kurz would know but we wouldn't be able to sign them until January. Meaning if they find a new club, their current club will mutually terminate the contract thus they will be a free agent.
It seems to be the only way aleague clubs can be active with mid season transfers as buying a player is not feasible given the transfer fee is also included in the cap.

I'm probably wrong but the player is still transferring outside the window and my understanding is that isn't allowed. No my point was there are probably contracted strikers out there who have been given their clubs blessing to leave. There probably contracted players in Europe that Kurz would know but we wouldn't be able to sign them until January. Unless there have been fifa rule changes then no.
Plenty of Aleague players have come to agreements abd terminated their contract and went to another club between windows.

Both of those players moved clubs in Jan/Feb when the summer window was still open. When players leave a club between windows, they can't play until the next window.Unless there have been fifa rule changes then no.

Eg: Janjetovic had to wait a month or two before he could sign for WSW.
