Re: Who's signed for next season
Fantastic opportunities for all the lads heading overseas. Who wouldn't want to challenge themselves at a higher level - especially when the A-League is struggling?
Two great things for AUFC though.
1. Yet again we're producing players that have a future and other clubs want. We have an extraordinary record in this.
2. Because we've been prioritising young players and giving them a chance, we'll not only bring through more young, SA players but attract the interest of rising stars across the country.
It's going to be a very different team and a very different league but watching a fired up young team with self-belief is going to be exciting. Can't wait to get back to Coopers/Hindmarsh and see what we have to offer.

Don’t understand why Brook left tbh.
Why leave AU when he’s just broken into the team and go somewhere where he’ll only be playing in the reserves.

Don't mind all this movement. Let's face it we're not going to be playing for at least 4 months so why would we sign anyone? We've been playing the kids to be able to on sell them so that's a success too.
Whether our production line of talent is capable of filling their shoes remains to be seen but it's what they set out to do.

Will be great to see Costanzo's kid too. Also a winger.Great news for Nicola.Nikola off to Denmark.
Last one out pls turn off the lights.
One good thing about this is Pacifique will move into the starting XI. Different type of player, but one who is ready to be in our starting line-up.

Re: RE: Re: Who's signed for next season
I guess that's true, I was kind of hoping it wouldn't happen all at once though. It would be good if we had a ready made McGree replacement ready to go with a little experience like Brook/Gomulka got this season and then a year later repeat. It just seems like we've lost a few of the positives from last season and we're looking thinner than ever. Good news about Jakobsen.Don't mind all this movement. On the flip side, if I was a professional footballer and I was getting the option to play/train OS now or sit around for 4 months and wait to see what happens with the A-league season/salary cap/contract negotiations... I know what I'd be doing.

Re: Who's signed for next season
McGree also called Birmingham a "stepping stone" is his unveiling presser, the video was posted by Birmingham's official social media and then taken down once they realised what he said. Not a great start for him.
I think what he meant was that it was a step-up, step in the right direction or something like that. Maybe because its a loan deal it's the next 'step' in his career?

Re: Who's signed for next season
So our replacement for Izzo is gonna be Joe Gauci, a guy who has played for two clubs and hasn’t played a first team game yet. (In Terry Crews voice) WHYYYYYYYYY!?

Re: Who's signed for next season
Gauci could be great, in 5 years time....
We all saw that youngsters can be great and also very inconsistent. AU will struggle to get me to sign on unless they are actually competitive and competing in finals. I’m not interested in watching a development squad year in year out and then seeing all the best ones sold off after half a season.
But that is all Piet cares about as it looks to me.
I support AU - not Randers, Birmingham etc and once they are gone, they are usually gone and supporters are left trying to assess what AU exists for- winning titles or simply making money/selling. I’ve yet to see AU get the balance right too often in its existence

Re: Who's signed for next season
He’s been signed on a scholarship deal fortunately so he won’t be first choice. There was a quote in the release which hinted at us bringing in another keeper. So our replacement for Izzo is gonna be Joe Gauci, a guy who has played for two clubs and hasn’t played a first team game yet. Also we are apparently on the verge of signing a former Brisbane midfielder.
Joe Caletti and Jesse Daley are the only players I can think of that we’d be interested in.
